What bothers me most is when ppl use the life style to make cheating seem ok....

Whenever a woman gets maimed or killed by a jelous man I just laugh and laugh and laugh.

Okay not really. But I am often confused over the comedy expressed (in general, not nessesarily with this thread) when a woman pulls this little trick on a man. To me it doesn't matter if he was cheating. She took it to a level it didn't deserve. Just like a woman who cheats doesn't deserve to be beaten or similarly maimed.

Exactly.

I read a book a few years ago, Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Say, by Warren Farrell. Yeah, as the title suggests, part of it was kinda touchy-feely stuff LOL, but the last half of the book was an eye-opening (and extremely well documented) look at how men are often devalued in our society. Farrell covered several instances of attitudes and actions towards men that would elicit shrieks of horror if they had been directed at women (rightly so).

Example: although a woman rape victim identity is protected a man who's penis has been cut off has his face plastered all over the internet so everyone can see the man whos dick was taken away. He is just as much a victim of violent crime but it's not seen that way. It's... funny.

It nearly always strikes me as vicarious revenge when females gloat over a story like this. That's the only explanation that I can come up with. A sort of 'yay to her for doing what I would love to do but never will'.

And yes there is a huge double standard on this. Women are typically kept nameless and the men are not. Personally I find that a wee bit messed up.

Personally I don't think anyone is worth loosing my freedom for. If they want to cheat then let them, just take what is yours and leave. There are other people out there to hookup with who don't cheat. I never understood why some people get violent over something as stupid as this. A man (or woman) is not worth going to jail for.

I can certainly understand the vicrarious revenge response. I think men would be lying, or I know I would be, if I didn't hear a similar story about a woman who 'had it coming' per-se. But society does afford women a greater right to 'gloat' in these situations. It's a double standard. But there are lots of double standards. Some work for me, some don't. C-est la vie. In the long run I probably come out ahead. As long as no one cuts off my dick.

I don't think you offended people. Well, I know I wasn't personally offended. You did start and interesting discussion which is sort of in the spirit of why we're here. Personally I thank you.
