Nosathro -> Blackwater is proud of their success. (9/25/2007 9:20:11 AM)

Blackwater, the largest of three private security contractor in the State Department boost how no US Diplomate has been killed while they provide protection.  I ran a quick search and found that the last US Diplomate to be killed was in 1973.  The Russians have lost Four in the last year.
But what is not noted is the Companies ties to the GOP and the White House.  For example the President of Blackwater Erik Prince has given the GOP some $200,000 other Blackwater Excutives do the same.  The Vice Chairman of Blackwater is also the senior advisor of Matt Romney, Presidential Canndiate.  Blackwater legal team includes Kenneth Starr and Fred Fielding, current White House Counsel. The PR company for Blackwater is the same as the GOPs.  Blackwater ties with the GOP have helped the company alot not only in no bid contracts but keeping any attempt at regulating the industry or congressional oversight of their activities.  It has also help Blackwater in it current trouble with the families of the 4 members killed in Fallujah, ie keeping it away from a jury.

Blackwater takes alot of heat- [that] it almost goes un-noticed it is just one of hundreds of corps on the no bid contract gravy wagon.

we can tell our grandkids about how 2007 is chowtime!   the bonanza for corporate welfare- and that 12,000$/ $5999 washer parts./toliet seats for military was only the hint of the sizzling gravy train.

[sarcastic] heck- we might even claim Katrina was a hoax- it never happened!!

See?

Er yah, that is the crime called "racketeering".

Pay them with tax payer money so they get a kickback of that same taxpayer money.

Same thing is going on with AIPAC, we send isreal 10 billion of taxpayer money and they send nice wads back for the same reasons

There's a minor problem with your story. Congress isn't controlled by the GOP, remember? So it must be the Democrats who are protecting that evil, EVIL Blackwater corporation...

They're in Iraq doing a tough job, and while they probably aren't pure and perfect I highly doubt that they deserve the villification that's currently being heaped on them by the left and others who hate everything American

There is nothing wrong, yes Democrates do have a majority but the not a large enough one, the GOP has prevented passages of bills.  No one is say protection of our overseas diplomate is easy. What IS a concern is that this company is not under any restrictions, law, or oversight.  Even Blackwater admits they do as they please and ignore directives the other two Security Companies comply with.

Basic partisan mathematics

If the other party has a majority, everything bad is their fault, everything good is in spite of them...

If the other party doesn't hold the majority, the same claims still apply.

And any President from the other side is always too stupid to tie their own shoes, yet able to hatch and carry out multiple evil genius like plans in complete secrecy... [:D]

SimplyMichael -> RE: Blackwater is proud of their success. (9/25/2007 11:50:23 PM)

Congress doesn't award contracts, that is the job of the Administration.  Considering Bush's history of using corporate no-bid contracts to pay people off (like the Gov. of Texas who sent others to die so Bush could get into the guard) it shouldn't be surprising that Blackwater is a private army run by right wingers.

As for hating everything American, how pathetic.  I LOVE America, that is why I hate Republicans, they hate the Constitution, they hate labor, they hate wage earners, they pretty much hate everything but massive federal handouts wired direct into their bank accounts.

By far my biggest gripe: Why on earth are there so many VIP's over there and why on earth are the VIP's and diplomats so deserving of such an outlandish expenditure at tax payer expense. Based on the recent past...I honestly don't think the cost of a few VIP's and diplomats lives is worth the excessive monetary burden that Blackwater brings to the table.

The video lacked any and all context, and so for you to try to use something so vague as that for anti American propaganda is really kind of humerous

Nosathro -> RE: Blackwater is proud of their success. (9/26/2007 8:40:27 AM)

According to a Washington Post Article, the US Military and US State Department Officials had a meeting in Iraq after the September 16th incident, the topic the Military wants the State Department to bring Blackwater under control.   Seems our own Military has had run in with Blackwater and the Military also complain that Blackwater is doing more harm then good.

Is being an armchair quarterback the day after the game's over as tough as it looks? Send little girls picking petunias instead, if that's what you'd rather have.

yep that is the beauty of it.  no context what so ever, in fact they say nothing but what is needed to conduct business.   The rest is based on what your eyes and brain can figure out.  How much better could you have it?  If i posted something with a commentary you would claim it was some leftist propganda.

Armchair quarterback?  Anyone who wasn't an idiot predicted exactly what has happened in Iraq and exactly why.  Only YOUR quarterback was too stupid to see it, hell he isn't even a decent armchair quarterback!

In places like Iraq there is a need for armed guards. There are crying towels in the lobby on the far right if you need some.
