TEHRAN, Iran - The deputy commander of Iran's air force said Wednesday that plans have been drawn up to bomb Israel if the Jewish state attacks Iran, according to the semiofficial Fars news agency.

The announcement came amid rising tensions in the region, with the United States calling for a new round of U.N. sanctions against Iran over its disputed nuclear program and Israeli planes having recently overflown, and perhaps even attacked, Iranian ally Syria.

On Sunday, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said the international community should prepare for the possibility of war in the event that Iran obtains atomic weapons, although he later appeared to soften that statement.

Dont tell Mercnbeth, he wants to give Al Qaeda in Iraq some weapons of mass destruction

If weapons supplies can travel one way over a border, I imagine they can also go the other.

What fucking dangerious nutjobs the Iranians are.  What nerve they have saying they will respond if attacked!  Where do they get off saying that sort of dangerious thing.  Just because you are attacked doesn't give you right to invade other countries, especially ones that had nothing to do with the original attack!

Of course if we attack Iran, Israel will have VASTLY more involvement than Iraq did with 9/11...but why let facts get in the way of a good chest thumping rant!

Israel attacked Iraqi when they were creating a Nuke, and Iran doesn't want to see that happen to them.  Remember Iran and several other countries have attack Israel at once without provocation.

Other than not getting a single fact right, you grasp of ME history qualifies you for a high level position in the Bush administration as they disqualify anyone who gets at least one fact right.

Iran was never involved in any of the four Arab/Israeli wars nor supplied troops during the '48, '56, 67, nor '73 wars and in fact the Shaw (A US ally) was in power for at two if not three of those wars so there was  no chance of that at all.

The '48 war was sort of spontanious with both sides starting fighting at the same time, '56 and '67 Israel struck first, only in the '73 did the Arabs strike first.

The Israelis attacked Iraq's unfinished nuclear power plant although everyone knew why he wanted it.

It seems likely that the only country that would not respond by attempting to bomb a nation that attacked them, would be a country that has no bombers.
 
As an aside, given the current state of the Iranian Airforce, and the difficulties of the suggested mission, is seems unlikely that Iran could do this with any likelihood of success.

Yeah, Iran against Israel wouldn't be pretty. What's disturbing is the chance, however small, that the Iraqis could get in one lucky shot, with a nuke.

hey! Aren't Iran supposed to be so dangerous the US is threatening to attack them? Hell, maybe oil is the reason they are looking a juicy target for attack.

Of course we know if they were really dangerous they wouldn't be attacked.

Hey, if we invade a few more of the same sort of countries in the ME we will have invaded every country that DIDN"T involve itself in 9/11 and support every country that DID involve itself in 9/11.

I think it would be very hard for any American administration to make a case for war with Iran. Yes, Iraq did happen, and the mistake of that is hard to dispute ... or ... the case for the evil nature of that war, is reasonably obvious. It all depends on if you think the current administration is coldly calculating, or just flat stupid.
 
Israel on the other hand, can make a case (at least to their own people) and has easy means. I pretty much expect that when and if Iran gets close to having nukes, Israel will strike them.
 
Business as usual, I suppose.
