The irony of punishment is that it is in many ways more intimate, and perhaps more personal, than other interactions.  People are not, as a rule, discomfited by public displays of affection unless egregiously overdone; yet even minor punishments disturb and are unpleasant to watch.

Neither Master nor I are much into punishment, that's the last resort and reserved for willful disobedience. Since i am not willfully disobedient to Master, and I also won't tolerate that sort of sub, it's not much of an issue. And even if it occurred, punishment is not physical or involving pain, so that it's unlikely to be a public event.

However, correction is fair game ... Master has nudged me, wagged His finger, shaken His head (whichever i was most likely to notice) or outright asked me if there was a reason why i was rocking, to stop me from rocking from side to side or back and forth (a bad habit i have obviously had for years which is largely entirely subconscious so is proving tricky to break entirely, though the incidence has decreased markedly). He has checked me with "the look" if i am blathering on too much, or about to say something inappropriate. And i've had the subtle swat on the ass for too much cheekiness too. He hasn't got into the ear pinching .... hmmm ... hope He doesn't see this thread LOL!

Similarly, I would expect to correct My girl in public should she need it, but I wouldn't be making a song and dance about something. Those things are best discussed in full later. We are definitely of the mindset of praise in public, "punish" (or rather discuss and resolve) in private.

Isn't the distinction between "punish", "correct", and "discuss and resolve" rather a fine splitting of hairs?
