At some point in life, you are going to be "It." The sooner you learn the better. I was never the fastest nor the cleverist at hiding. However, TAG, taught me how to keep a few tricks up my sleeve and I never had to cry when I became "It." When push came to shoove, I learned to bulk and stand up. If you think banning tag is bad, get ready to say good bye to Red Rover and Duck Duck Goose. The madness of banning such games has to deal with psychological effects. Many people can recall there child hood of always being "It" and never able to catch anyone. It began a cycle of being picked on and laughed at and becoming the sucker who takes all the crap. There are some who just can't bare the thought of seeing there kids going through the same thing. That is the aurgument for banning TAG. When is it best to learn that you can't win them all? When you loose, you can come back stronger? My answer is, the sooner the better. These simple games are not for exercise. They are building blocks for lessons down the road.
