Completely agree. What I find very strange though, is that I get contacted alot about how intelligent I sound from my profile, and when I try to engage the person in intelligent discourse, they end up telling me I am a bitch/not submissive/really a domme/a snob/use too many big words, etc.

So, no, not more intelligent, other than some of the posters on the forum, many of whom I totally admire for their writing and insight.

Status: offline 		I work for a living but mostly at night. I got chores to do and get an average of like 4 hrs of sleep on a night that I work. I don't have a lot of money in fact I sometimes just enough to get by. My richness comes from a choice to enjoy what I have.

As for those in the lifestyle being smarter than the average bear...only a small percentage of people on this site are active in their local communities. And even then those who are "online only" tend to not post on these forums. Again only another small percentage.

People are stupid. down right dumb. An individual is sometimes smart. You only have a small part of the people you're making reference to here.

So I have to disagree...as I heard the other day it takes years to learn how to use a whip and one MUST mentor toknow how to top or be a Dominant. And this was at a munch and then at a demo. There's just as many idiots here as there are else where.

Some people just aren't very good at articulating their thoughts online. Some people are just poor spellers, or maybe they try to type too fast, thus making more mistakes.

I would never judge anybody's intelligence by what, or how they post online. But then again, I feel there are different "types" of intelligence. A mechanical wiz who can take anything apart then put it back together. The uneducated immigrant who runs a successful small business. Some styles of intelligence just aren't obvious in this type of medium.

And anyhow, I'll take my social circle of blue-collar working class uneducated friends over a gaggle of intellectual elitists any time. Birds of a feather, and all that. Heh.

Probably the same ratio as in the real world, judging by the numbers of people who pop up once or twice to say they're 30some years old with zero experience and are planning to ditch everything they've ever learned about sensible behavior to do what somebody they've never met ordered them to. Sorry about the run on sentence though.

On that note, yes, most 'forumites' in general not only have the ability to discuss the theories of bdsm in general but have the emotional stability and knowledge-cohert to back up what they say (even if it is a different opinion than others), for the most part.  Either/or, it is functional discussion. Sigh, in other words, some might read forums or post once and realize 'oh man, that is a tough crowd' when they previously thought 'hmmm I might just play with my compter and these people for a while'.  Then they realize 'doh, people are responding, they make sense, runnnn'. But, leave me out, I never make sense lol.

See I would disagree.  I think we have specific sets of interests that vanillas don't- but I know a lot of kinky people who don't even have non scene friends and hardly ever go out to non scene events unless it's for work or family.   There's a lot of people out there doing a lot of things.

Status: offline 		I'll agree with LA's suggestion about time and money for lifestylers.  I'll also add, that people people who are not generally intellectually, don't usually spend a great deal of time in online message boards.  I will say that there's no small number of online 'elititists' (and yes, I often fall into that category) who rail against how downright stupid the rest of the world is.  Having been a member of several other online message boards, I've found this, b.com, and the colboard message boards to be some of the most abstract and intelligent of the bunch.

I figure that smart people are more likely to get bored with vanilla sex.  The less intelligent women I've slept with, were usually terrible lays.

Ok so your opinions are better than mine. Thanks for that now I understand.  You based your observation of me on one post whereas I based my opinion on what I read and what I see everyday. I've been unemployed I know the system thanks.

I am chained to a desk all day at My job (drafter/designer).  At night I build websites... again, chained to My desk. 

Since I excel at both those jobs, I often find Myself with some free time (like now) that I can jump online and participate in any forum, chat room, IM conversation or hell, even look at porn if I want to.  Why?  Because I can, and I get paid six figures a year to do it.

So... that being the case, perhaps you may wish to rethink your position on how people who hang out in forums all day must be welfare-abusing leeches of society.

Speaking of which, you seem to be on the forums quite a bit during the day...
