Funny, but hasn't Bonds passed all his drug tests, to the best of my knowledge there is zero evidence he actually used steroids

I have to admit, I got excited when Barry broke the record. I actually felt good for him. That is until his press conference. He just comes off so arrogant. I really think he can't help it.
Hank Aaron sending a video message congratulating Bonds just shows how much class Hank possesses.

Passing tests equals zero evidence?  Ever heard of cycles? Or masking agents?  Or anyone getting that big that fast without 'assistance'?

There may not be proof that would hold up in a court of law but there is in fact, some evidence.

If you can't prove Bonds is on steroids, and he certainly has been tested a lot,
then his records should stand.

So, this is all rumor?

This narrative is based on more than a thousand pages of documents and interviews with more than 200 people, many of whom we spoke to repeatedly. In our reporting on the BALCO story for the San Francisco Chronicle, we obtained transcripts of the secret grand jury testimony of Barry Bonds and seven other prominent professional athletes. We also reviewed confidential memorandums detailing federal agents' interviews with other athletes and trainers who had direct knowledge of BALCO. Sealed material we reviewed also included unredacted versions of affidavits filed by the BALCO investigators; e-mail between BALCO owner Victor Conte and several athletes and coaches regarding the use and distribution of drugs; a list of evidence seized from the BALCO storage locker; and a document prepared to brief participants in the raid on BALCO.
Anderson acknowledged that Bonds was using an undetectable performance-enhancing drug to beat baseball's drug tests. Kimberly Bell, Bonds's former girlfriend, provided legal correspondence, transcripts, audiotapes of voice mail and many documents regarding her relationship with Bonds.

The intergrity of sports records is pretty low on my list of noble causes to take up. [:D]  But steroids aren't innocent enough to ignore overall, IMHO

First off, there is no test for HGH.

Second, MLB just started drug testing and cracking down on violations in 2003. Bonds is accused of using steroids in the late 1990s through early 2000s.

Proven beyond doubt. Bonds admitted it in front of the Grand Jury. The perjury charge presently being considered against him is due to his lie claiming that the "Cream" steroid his trainer put on him was believed by Bonds to be simply flaxseed oil. An absolute mountain of evidence shows that Bonds knew what he was taking and was a very active particpant in BALCO. No matter what plea bargain he reaches with the feds he should be banned for life by Selig and his records expunged.

right. Steroids won the record. It had nothing to do with natural talent or hard training. Listen - if you have no talent and take steroids it doesn't give you talent. If you take steroids and sit on your ass they do not build muscle. Truth is steroids don't do anything unless you have pushed yourself to your limit - only then do they begin to assist. He still had the work to do. He still had to train and push himself to his absolute limit. Steroids or not. He deserves the honor. Every sport in history has had their cheats and I'm sure Aaron isn't immune. If every bat Aaron ever used has been X-ray'd to see if it was corked then maybe I'm wrong. But I'm guessing a corked bat or two made it in his record and just no one knows about it. Give Bonds his due. Steroids should be legal anyway.

Let me clarify. I do not think steroids should be legal for teenagers or for women (unless a sepcific medical condition merits it). But as for developed men - all studies suggest their use to be benifitial however we are denied these substances because of a war-on-drugs type mentality that jumps on hype instead of looking at the evidence. Watch this video. If it doesn't change you mind or at least make you consider rethinking the whole issue then I will respect your opinion but retain my own. Too each their own as they say.

No, steroids make possible  unattainable hypertrophy with crappy form, mediocre workouts, and scant attention to rest and nutrition cycles.. which is why they are so popular. They are a big short cut. They also allow coaches to win with players who might otherwise be sidelined too long from injuries.

If you had to already be a champion to get a microscopic benefit, they wouldn't be in currency with every gym rat who thinks squats are too hard, and strict form is for losers.

maybe we should dig up every dead record holder and test them for drugs, lack of  hard evidence wont clear them though . so lets start all over at zero. Barry you get to go first.
steroids dont help the bat connect with the ball.
a sad moment for baseball, they wont retire number 21 from the phillies. that really sucks
