But slamming someone into solitary, without an attorney, or arraignment for 1300 DAYS isn't a crackpot conspiracy, is it? It is established fact.

And if they can do it to a suspected muslim, why not a Jew? Why not anyone? Why not you?

So why do you help them get away with it, by obfuscating every attempt to hold rational discourse condemning such things?

The Blue Band did a tune called "Elvis in Paraguay"...

Ok fargle, Ill bite....but only has hard as you ask for ok....

So, say a large number of us actually do strike or whatever on 9/11....what are you proposing that will actually DO? Cut into someones profits? Even you realize thats a silly notion. Show "Them" that we care? I am sure a million letters will do just that without risking anyones jobs. Are you proposing a "day of silence" in a sense to honor people who died? In that sense I could almost understand it...but somehow I dont think thats your meaning...

GhitaAmati:
There is an interesting book by John Hersey called White Lotus.  It discusses a similar aspect of  this concept of passive resistance to unresponsive authority.

It will probably work as well as "boycott gas for a day" does.
The only day that seems to keep people at home in large numbers is Election Day.[;)]

Yes lets advertise it all over the place that America on that day will be away and the terrorists can have a field day.

.....this seems to me to be a problematic way of thinking. If all domestic issues are dominated by the fear of an external threat haven't the terrorists won? Surely the best response to terrorism is to carry on as normal in as many areas as possible?

I would agree and this act is not what I would consider business as usual.

....true, but it is not in response to external terorism but is a response to domestic politics. Assuming it ever happens. Therefore it is a legitimate, if unusual, expression of democracy. Which includes in civilised countries the right to withdraw ones labour. Once a governmental response to terrorism includes the denial of rights then terrorism wins.

Alumbrado -> RE: General Strike: 9/11/07 (8/3/2007 11:13:12 AM)

Once the governmental and media response puts the terrorists and their issues on the front and editorial page of every newspaper, the terrorists have won their first objective.

No basis in reality?  Of course reality is whatever you program into your own head and if you fail to look under all the carpets to find where the doo doo is hidden concerning a prospective conspiracy it will never enter, your world, thus (reality), will remain intact and secure.

i cannot help but laugh frankly that many people accept without question the governments "conspiracy theory" while at the same time rejecting the theories produced by military analysts, senators, Phd's, and other quite reputable people.

Farg, and what do we do with the "FUCKIN SCABS!" that try to cross our picket line?

LaTigresse -> RE: General Strike: 9/11/07 (8/3/2007 11:26:39 AM)

Somehow I seriously doubt there will be a mass exodus from the offices and such. Probably just a few here and there looking for an excuse to take a day off work and sit home, cracking a cold one or whatever floats their boat.

Will be interesting to see if the unemployment rates go up afterward. I know it would here in my shop! "What, you just decided to stay home today to make a statement?" "Well, here is a statement for you.......You're fired."

Safest place to be in America is solitary confinement....who was it that said something about exchanging safety for freedom??

Either that or Im gonna go buy the plot of land next door to the bushes in paraguay...thats gotta be a pretty safe place...

LMAO!!!  YOu got it once again right on target!  That is a new and refreshing twist to "follow the money"!!!!

(which of course begs the question of why would the bushes want anything to do with paraguay if the us is the best place to be in the world?)   Ponders why hallyburton bailed too   :)

Real0ne -> RE: General Strike: 9/11/07 (8/3/2007 11:35:56 AM)

Farg:

i htink a mass protest would have much more effect with private persons putting it on youtube and sending commentaries to other nations where the press will not suppress it by blowing by it quickly as an after thought.

The problem is of course that there would not be anough people to really hurt anything only becasuse many companies are huge and can easily tolerate a day or even a weeks loss of a few personel.

i think large scale protests would be much more effective.

Why do you think most trust the government, accepting things without question..?

When the day comes that the government knocks on your door asking you to turn over something thats important to you, will you be able to defend yourself? (no im not necesarily talking firearms here people...eventually it WILL be something that matters to you) Because you wont have to just defend yourselves against the government, all those sheep living next door to you will turn against you too.

What makes you think so? (I'm well aware the group I associate isn't representative of the population as a whole, nor am I social enough to be aware of the condition of the general population. I'm afraid that this can leave me unaware of such trends.)

Have you seen a full scale independant investigation into wtc?   Chances are you wont.

The governent can crank out propaganda, like pm magazine faster than people willing to sacrifice their jobs and careers to fight it can be produced.   Notice that the greater majority of people in the truth movement have been fired or otherwise ostersized or are retired and have nothing to lose in speaking out.  The rest must remain silent.

Where do you want to take the that word question?   When i say question i mean if nothing else "force" the government to investigate and answer our questions.

They have not done so in either their ommission commission nist asce or fema reports all of which do not conform to known issues at the wtc.   (like bombs).   In fact they have not even addressed or acknowleged that bombs blew it all to hell.

This acquiescense of the people lends itself well to the governemtn brushing lots of things under the table till it is to late to do anything about it.   (just "i wonder" while dreaming at the dinner table is not questioning)

How can you miss it? Teenage boys go out and spend over a hundred dollars on ugly, uncomfortable shoes just because Kobe Bryant wore them. Self image and beauty ideals are purportrated by magazines and tv. Do you honestly believe that CNN and FOX give compleatly unbiased veiws of the government? Sure the number of people who are begining to realize "fair and balanced" doesnt exactly mean what it says is growing...thankfully so...but there is still a large portion of America who believe everything the media throws out at them...and the media only throws what it wants them to know.
