kyraofMists -> RE: How do those of you who need to loose weight, or have partners that need to make it fun? (8/3/2007 6:54:53 PM)

~fast reply

I have recently started weight training several times a week and spinning.  In the last three months I have only lost about 5 pounds but I have lost over 15 inches from my body.  Weighing myself has been a poor measure of how much progress I am making, so I take measurements.

He gets involved because he get a kick out hearing me in pain from my workouts.  He especially likes the post spinning class.  It appeals to the sadist in him.

A note about artificial sugars, they can cause intense headaches.  I cannot use artificial sweetners and if I have something with them I will get migraine like headaches.

*edited to add.. .I forgot to mention that I am not allowed to have any junk food without his permission.  Someone might think I am trying to block that from my mind.  That has really helped control the cravings for sweets.

Well, my Dom of only four months always said i was fine with him...but recently he bought two scales from "bed, bath and beyond" for both of us and said..we both need to lose 15 pounds..so he makes me ride 10 miles along the beach boardwalk from Hermosa Beach to the end near Torrance every weekend..and you really feel good for doing it...ha ha...and i  am good or better at home and cut out lots of bread which is my weakeness..i have lost 4-5 pounds in 1.5 weeks...i was hating not fitting in some old clothes..i want to lose 20 total..i will do it if i keep my spirits up and we do it together....men only need to lose in their tummies and it is harder for women but we can do it!  rhonda

Slavish I tried food journals, and for someone reason it drove me batshit  to do it, and I felt more compelled to eat than when I didn't write down every tiny thing I ate.  I don't know why, it's not really a big deal, I just knew it made me cranky and drove me batshitty.

I drink ocean spray light cranberry grape, and I drink talking rain and clearly canadian, with no fructose or high cornsyroup or secret sugars added. Like you look at propel fitness water and it's got like 20 grams or more of sugar, and to me water shouldn't have sugar!

FDD I mentioned that I do not over eat in the first post. I barely eat at all and when I do, it's probably not the greatest choices, or what I eat, like crackers and ranch, on ocasion it's out of desperation because we don't have any real foods and nobody can afford grocieries. I eat maybe like once or twice a day, now hard to believe a fat person doesn't eat, but not eating the right things and not exercising will do it to you.

Hey,  FelinePersuasion

nutrition - # 1 Congrats on the choice to be healthy! The nutrition class is an excellent idea. Diet food is not always healthy. Clean, whole, fresh non processed food is your best bet. Stay away from fast food. Keep healthy snacks in the refrig. Eat breakfast.

Jumping rope is not for starters. It is very hard on the knees ankles and all joints. It is too intense to keep up for enough time to get into the fat burning zone.  You need to do at least 20 minutes a day of moderate excercise a day at a steady pace. Where you can still talk, but you feel a bit of challange. Don't push too hard. Steady is the word.

If you are very over weight - please get a check up. You will need to find your heart rate - pulse and ideal number for training  to achieve sound improvement.  Really : you may need a pro trainer or a good friend with solid experience.

Pilates will firm, but isn't great for cardio you need for weight loss. It also strains the neck, and if big in the wast - hard to do. A good class and teacher is a must. Injuries are frequent - believe it or not, it isn't easy.

Walking is ideal. Bike riding too.  Low impact excercises. No need to pound away. You don't need torn ligs or stress fractures. Get good athletic shoes.
Water excercise is A+  I like it and it is fun. Do you like swimming? Water walking is great. harder than you'd imagine.

Get moving. Soon your stamina will improve. Sex and oxygen do mix!you'll get addicted even! The endorphin rush.

Remember the first few steps will be the hardest.
Take it slow - but take it. Keep at it. Don't give up.

High Five!
Zac

glad to answer any questions.

FELINE: I read your last post and wanted to add some more advise. Please do see a doctor. Your body is in starvation mode from what you describe. Hormones - thyroid - understimulated. It is not just a cultural or beauty ideal you want . You need to regain your health, for you and those you love.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: How do those of you who need to loose weight, or have partners that need to make it fun? (8/3/2007 7:36:21 PM)

Rockwell, yeah I love to swim, I don't do it much and it's hell on women with long hair, but it's summer and I do want to be in a pool more and more, I actually have swim cravings lol. Almost like people crave food, but this craving is to be in nice cool water.

The gym I was going to offered personal trainers as part of the package, I unfortunatly lost interest in going and got tired of paying for it. That happens all the time, I've been through that like 4 times, I was going to Curves, for women, lost interest, I signeed up to loose weight for a then dominant, and myself. I went to California health muscle club, was all fired up to go for a while, lost interested enede dup paying a ton of money for like what 2 weeks of use.  We do have community pools here, I know Riolinda high has one and there's one by morise avenue kiaser! And when my partner comes I don't do much actual swimming, mostly walking about, floating on his tummy, but it sure is fun and it's activity and us time hehe.

Curves I wouldn't advise. Not because they won't let me in ;) but I see very few women achieve goals by training there. Better than nothing, but if you have a pool or access to one, places to walk, a bike, either normal or inside and best - a buddy to do the activities with for support ., it is almost all you need to start. CA? Great! Good weather.

Do you stretch? Very important.

Power walking up and down the pool or aquatic aerobics are favorites with the women. Put on some music and dance away.

goddamn I sound like richard simmons!

I found the repitition boreing, they have limited amount of machines, and you do like 5 mins on each machine then switch, then take your pulse, not only that, but they were hell to deal with when I wanted to cancle my account! I quit cause a bad back and at the time i could barely move, and they said in order to cancle I needed a doctors note stateing I was injured and was indeed having back problems.

My mom likes Curves, the structure keeps her going.  I'd probably like it too since I have a pattern on how I do the machines.

I can't stand food journals.  It's bad enough I'm going to have to carefully limit my food and weight out each meal for the rest of my life.  So I keep it to THAT meal, to THAT snack- is this good for me?  Is this what I NEED?  Is this worth the work later?

Alot of YMCA's have swimming pool exercises for different age groups. You might find one of those to be fun. Tell them you have back problems and they'll get you into the right group. Unfortunately, you won't be able to do any sexual activities while you exercise in the pool, I think they frown on that kinda thing LOL

The fitball is a great idea and I'm sure there's lots of sexual exercises you can adapt to that as well.

Walking, well...there are lots of little remote control toys that he can be in charge of that nobody will notice, as you're walking along.

I just love incorporating sexual activity with exercise. Can't wait till I get a partner and get back into this <evil grin>

exercise beats diets all of the time..at least from my experience

do NOT eat less. eating healthier is a great option but that def isn't the same as eating less.

bignipples to share, a friend said unless breath play is your kink she didn't know how swimming could be kinky, and I said well you could have a race and who ever wins gets to pick a kinky activity for later on. all though that'd be an unfair deal for me cause daddy used to be a swimmer on a swim team, and he can still swim really well. Or perhaps just see who can swim the longest not nessisarily faster or nothing. All kinds of ways to make that into something kinky later.

Just getting in a pool with my Lord can be an intense fear play for me.

I love swimming and grew up spending a lot of time in pools.  However, I also have an intense fear of drowning.  Something happened as a child to intensify this and I have had several dreams about drowning since then.  Just the act of him getting in the water and stalking towards me with that look that he gets when he wants to hurt you was enough to make me start to hyperventilate.  Even the thought of getting in a pool with him is enough to make my breath speed up and my heart race.

I know he will not harm me but I am terrified of the sensation of being under water and not being able to get up.

I've joined weight watchers a few times, the system does work, considering it's  the basic food group but living out in the boonies and shift work made it near impossible to keep up with meetings.

I'm a comfort eater so I eat when I am stressed, lol which means I'm pretty much munching most of the time. I'm trying to make a point of keeping  real food munchies on hand (nuts, veggies fruit, seeds etc) instead of the usual potato chips.

Rob is really helpful and supportive, I have a bit of a warped sense of body image and  he helps me keep it in perspective.
Fencing is a great way to lose weight, I never thought I was a competitive person until I get a sharp pointy thing in my hand *s* I highly recommend it. It's also not as exspencive as you may think.  Also, the jackets , with a little work can be made into a lovely straight jacket :) when not in use as  protective gear

kyra... I hear you with the water thing.. shiver ...The only part of my EMS training I hated was water rescue.  The UM seem to have taken on His sadistic nature and loved  dragging me down the kiddie slides at WEM just to hear me scream and swear
