I remember watching a documentary on BBC TV about paternity of children. Apparently something like 15% of children have a different father from who the mother claims to be the father. So if you have a child that shows a resemblance to the delivery man, chances are he is the real father. There is also plenty of research that suggests women are more likely to have an eatra-marital affair than men.

From experience I've known one woman who couldn't stop telling me how honest, moral and full of integrity she was. That raised flags for a start. Dhe ended up being a two faced lying bitch. But my first wife used to tell me about her female colleagues and their affairs and I have to confess I've laid several married women and they were the instigators.

All of which, I like a woman in my bed but not in my life. The only honest womnan is one you pay for.[:D]

While I enjoy the honesty of "professional women" I would not go so far as to claim that they are truthful in all things. My point is that they have no vested interest in lying about what we are doing together.
I have known many women who avoid telling me what I want to know with the simple truth that they would "prefer not to say" or more bluntly "it is none of your business".  Thus maintaining both their integrity and their desire not to divulge certain information.  This is a position that I find to be consistent with both integrity and honesty.

General reply to nobody in particular.

Jared Diamond touched on this in one of his books, I think "The Third Chimpanzee" as well as an article in Psychology Today last year.

Lying is something which is almost universally reviled as a proper behavior pattern in modern societies.

On the other hand, after thousands and thousands of years of evolution, the behavior has not been natural selectioned into oblivion.  The only reasonable conclusion is that being able to lie has survival advantages for the individual.

I dont actively lie anymore.  My father is almost sociopathic in his telling of little white lies, and I have seen the damage those do.  On the other hand, I also do not always take the 100% honest and painful truth method.

The approach I take now is to play my cards close to my chest, use my poker face, and saying nothing.

Which I suppose might be one other way of lying.
