Ya know, when the Iraqi prime minister warns the US against leaving Iraq, and posits that not doing everything possible to establish order would be a humanitarian crime of epic proportions, I shed a tiny tear.

Then I remember their newly elected Government took the summer off.

Fuck 'em all.

Sinergy

p.s.  I imagine I would not be so chagrined if he had given his fucking speech to HIS OWN GOVERNMENT rather than the news agencies.

Obama makes a very good point and I think it is important that we re-examine and re-define US foreign policy,
especially in regards to military intervention in sectarian violence.

All we need to hear from him now, is a very specific and detailed 'how'.

While that would be good, we didn't hear and haven't heard a very specific and detailed "how" from the Loyal Bushies, have we?

So, absent a very specific and detailed "how" to the failed occupation we're stuck in, how could it get worse?

Drive to the airport or the port.  Board a plane or a ship.  Turn the lights out.  Leave.

It is not rocket science.

Genocide is Genocide. If your ALLEGED MOTIVATION is to stop slaughters and genocide, it's hypocritical to invade and occupy the oil fields of Iraq, but not invade and occupy sub-saharan Africa.

Of course, we all KNOW that Bush is full of shit with his justifications for being in Iraq, don't we?

Farg, you're big on the Constitution.
Where does it say that our "Army" is there to stop genocides in foreign countries?
It (does) say something about stemming "invasions" though, doesn't it?

Are you suggesting we took out Saddam because he was planning to invade the United States?

Wow, just... wow.

From where we are now, no, we cannot get it.  Make the changes, play a different game, we could.  We could get it in a way the world hasn't seen in a while, with toys to go with a killing mood.

Is that a better option?  Or inevitable anyway?

Sinergy, not at all. Ahhhh, I didn't say that, you did.

And what is this "Peace Keeper" Bullshit?
I don't know how many of you were in the Military but we were never called "Peace Keepers!"
We were *WARRIORS.*
The Military's job is to kill and destroy our enemies.
Any way you can.
Why don't we just say to all the..........Dentists in this country, "OK, you guys aren't Dentists anymore, we're going to start calling you "Coal Miners" instead!"
"Now get down in that coal mine and start "drilling!"

Didn't YOU see the Republican Guard massing T-72 main battle tanks on the Mexican border?

Since he's black, I don't know why we're even discussing him. It's a toss up of who is less electable. Obama ( rhymes with... ) or the Gay Jew from New York.

Farg, Abadaba's "Black?"
He doesn't look Black.
He looks Middle Eastern.
Oh, and who's the gay Jew from N.Y., Hillary Clinton?
She did say she was "Jewish" along with Russian, German, French, English, Italian, Swedish, Irish, Scottish, Hungarian, Swahili.....
And, she does like the ladies.

If you think Bush is running for President in the next election, you really need to catch up.

How could it get worse?  I guess that depends on your perspective.  Fom my point of view, having a President from either party who takes the current situation and continues to exploit it for personal, partisan, or financial gain would be undesirable.

So I want to hear from these candidates exactly what they are going to do to dismantle the apparatus in place, not how they can be trusted with the keys to it.

Does it occur to anyone but me (in terms of Iraq only) that the easiest way to win this war is to leave and let them kill each other off?

Its always amazed me that our humanitarian polices seldom seem to apply unless the country in "trouble" has oil.

And that is going to provide humanitarian aid to the Sudan, et al., exactly how?
Some may impressed with empty rhetoric like that, but I want to hear something besides the same old, same old.

I want Obama and the one or two other alleged outsiders to spell out what specific plans they will draw up, how they will find funding, what they have thought of in case of problems...
You know, the same sort of stuff I would expect a competent plumber to tell me before I turned them loose on my house with a tool bag.

I'm reminded of a recent comedy routine where a great point is brought up.

Lebanon. 1983...our army barracks are bombed by islamic radicals. 250 dead.

The GREAT ICON of the modern republcian movement...MISTER republican himself, Ronald Reagan makes a decision on what to do about the terrorism.

He orders our troops to cut and run.

And we all remember the horrors the lebanese inflicted on our homeland when they followed us home.

Don't we?

Oh right. They didn't.
