Here she is in Chocolat:

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0248631/Ss/0248631/1.html?hint=nm0000300

That was just seven years ago, but she looks twenty years younger.  Maybe she hasn't been getting enough beauty juice lately.

She's only 43.  I know many 43-year-old women who don't look as old as she does in that picture.  It's not sexist.  It's an observation.  She has aged noticeably.

Someone must have pissed in a lot of Wheaties today, because everyone on Collarme is acting like they're on the rag or something.

LAM, I'm not on the rag, hell I havent been in years Thank God!
I think the reaction your feeling is due to your last statement in your orginial post.  " she used to be so beautiful"  .... it leads me to assume
that once again only youth is sought.  IMHO, she is still beautiful, and I'm pleased to see a photo that isnt air brushed and touched up!

Age happens and YES I am NOT happy about it!

I saw her on the Champs-Elysées once where I've also seen Emanuelle Beart, both get ones tackle working but the French star that I really want to meet really close up (and I mean close up) is Sophie Marceau.

http://www.celebritypron.com/smarceau2/sophie2_11.htm

I still think Binoche and Beart are better actors though.

Did you guys sleep through The English Patient?

I think many people slept through "The English Patient"
I don't know what she looked like before, she looks pretty in the photo. Hopefully she won't make the same mistake so many celebrities make and get plastic surgery that makes them look like a burn victim.

Agreed, people are too quick to turn to plastic surgery sometimes. Look at Kenny Rogers, what a ghastly sight.

Some older women are still hot, thankfully. Many are.

I think part of it is the makeup, and also that she looks a little *too* thin.  could be the lighting too.  she doesn't look like her skin has a lot of wrinkles or sun damage, just a little tired looking.

Since there are no sarcasm smilies and I'm only months away from forty myself, I was hoping that it was obvious I was being sarcastic and joking.

Hello Good Buddy; Do a Bio Research on Binoche. You will be amazed; 'The Widow of St. Tropei' ....is another her her very fine roles. She is utterly FANTASTIC, a woman of quality, grace, and...TALENT.  Damage was sooooo sexy.

Just do the Bio, then rent some of her movies.  See, what you've been missing.

Well, er...she's no Janet Jackson.

She does look tired in the photos.  I am not up to date on her current life but between filming and promotion of a moving the talent is often exhausted.  Add in travel and jet lag and it is a real challenge to look your best and brightest.

Hopefully she will get some time for herself to relax and rejuvenate.

Comparing a seven year old movie still to a recent candid shot is not going to give a fair assessment of how much anyone has physically aged. I know that, depending on my mood, health and energy, my apparent age can shift five years in either direction, day by day.

Juliette is still a great actor and a looker.

I'm saying that she used to be prettier WHEN she was younger, not BECAUSE she was younger.  Many women are prettier when they're older.  In fact, I've always preferred older women.  I thought that little character quirk of mine was well known.

Yanno, people, I'm just pointing out that an actress who has been gorgeous in several films in the past looks absolutely hideous in the recent picture I posted at the beginning of the thread.  I don't think that makes me a sexist, or someone who only desires youth, or whatever else people have implied about me.  Even if I AM a goddamned sexist, it doesn't change the fact that she looks hideous in that picture.

This reminds me of the very sexist notion that women get old, but men just become more distinguished. I think we just can't accept that beautiful women get old - that we notice it as much as we do. Since men are always allowed to look like semi-hell they simply don't have as far to fall.

Bite your tongue.  Men do become distinguished....And women just get old or simply age on our nerves....I pray every night for a solution to stop the aging process in women without utilizing plastic surgery. Is there an answer?

quote:

That is all a part of aging...we can't stop the process unless we die.

It seems a tad bit extreme....Going to call my congressman to see if this solution to combating the aging process in women has any possibilities.
