Here's MY good news for today. I hope it lifts everyone elses spirits as much as it did mine. I work in a photo lab. In my area here in Nashville, there are a lot of military families with deployed members. Many of the men in those families have left very young children home when they left. The wives and girlfriends are in regularly to develop pictures with me, and they often send packages to the soldiers with the pictures in them. For a 4th of July surprise, I suggested to one of the wives that she and the others (many of them are close, its ike a support group almost) that they all take a picture of the little ones wit their flags and good outfits, and we would put them all together onto one slideshow for the entire group. They added in signs for the kids to hold that said "We love you Daddy" and "Im so proud my Daddy's a soldier". We had 50 pictures all together and after a few hours of editing for them and some other little stuff, we got the CD put together. Its not part of what I normally do, any other customer and I would have just burned it. For them, I made sure it ws perfect. They sent it off REALLY early and obviously the CDs (one for each Dad, with an empoyee discount to make them a little less expenisve, and a note from me wishing them a happy and safe holiday) got there about mid June. I worked today and one of the soldiers that recieved the CD came into the store. He hugged me thank you, and told me that it was from all the guys there. He told me I had the unique honor of having made an entire platoon cry their eyes out, and they loved me for it. They had watched the CD every day since they got it, pointed out one anothers kids, told bragging stories about the children and in general forgot for an hour a day that they were so far away. I dont cry often, but I couldnt keep a dry eye this morning. Neither could any of the customers wating in the line, or the managers in the store who all got called over and thanked. None of them knew what I had done, but they all thought it was terrific. I am just glad I could make everyone's day over there a little better. DV
