Did you ever go to someone's house, on the first visit, and break the recliner?  Try topping that.

I am the epitome of all that is not graceful most days.

Many years ago, I was at a nightclub with a friend of mine.  I was wearing a dress that was kinda long and high heels.  Well the club had just been remodeled and had a wide sorta spiraling staircase in it and I was on the second floor when I noticed this guy down at the bar.  He and I had made that special eye contact earlier in the evening, but both got lost in the crowds.

Well this was my big chance to make a great first impression by descending those spiraling stairs in my sexy flowy dress and high heels........ uh huh.   All was well until I got about halfway down, then my sexy flowy dress sorta laid itself on the next step...... the step that I stepped onto with my high heel, thus pinning my dress to the step...... only my body is still moving in a downward motion.  Downward being the key word here.  All I remember was that I did some sorta version of Stop, Drop and Roll  and ended up landing right at his feet with my dress over my head.   He was quick to drop down and see if I was okay and help me up.  I just wanted to crawl under a table and DIE!

He did buy offer to buy me a drink, but I was just so embarassed, I grabbed my friend and made a hasty retreat out of the club.  Next day I was covered in bruises and still embarassed!

If something like this happened today, I'd still be horribly embarassed, but I would just laugh it off and have a drink or two to numb the pain.

I have plenty of stories illustrating how graceful I am.... but we don't wanna use up all of Collarme's bandwith.

Oh you are soooooooooo not alone. Most of my most "graceful" moments have involved either horses or dogs. Unexpected hasty dismounts, being run over, fallen on, tripping over. Though there have been a few roller skating debacles.

I'm right there with ya....have broken bones a few times tripping on dogs. Have never been run over by a horse (yet) but I did have my foot run over by a Volkswagon once and I have been plowed over a couple of times by Labrador Retrievers. We aren't even going to go into the skating accidents....lol.

AHHHHH, yes....horses and I have a long history of embarassing moments together........in college, I took an equitation class, and the first semester, had a horse named Lily....the first day of class, all she did was plod along.......couldn't even get her to walk like she was moving....the second class, we were outside, and again, she just plodded along barely awake.  I told the instructor that she was a dud, and that i really wanted a horse with spirit, not that was about to be one!  Well, he got up on her, and she was trotting before he even got settled in the saddle....cantered, trotted, JUMPED......totally made me look like a fool!  But at the end of the semester, we got along great, and she'd do whatever i wanted her to!  The second semester, I got a different horse...he was a character...he'd work his way sideways while i'd be brushing him til he pinned me aganst the arena wall.....he'd stand on my foot just because he could...and then there was the day he bit me right in the levi's pocket when I bent over to get his martingale strap......oh, I swear to this day, the damn animal laughed at me!!!  So much for the experienced equestrian!  I've also been the victim of "he went thatta way, I went thisaway"...nothing more than my pride hurt, thank goodness!

Then there's the ever popular falling off your shoes stunt.....and I wear flats!  I never seem to do it when there's no one watching...oh no.....it's usually a roomful of people there!  I've actually fallen flat on my face when it's happened!

There are far too many episodes that have gone "haywire" in my life to try to recall just one from the rich tapestry that is my existence....I will share an experience that although is nothing horrid has in a certain way become part of our lives....Anywhooo....Chillin' at the bar with the guys when a friend of mine had decided that the woman at the table adjacent to ours was a vision of beauty and he really wanted to go talk to her....He's a little shy and so he had to bolster himself up with some liquid courage as we discussed how he should approach his prey....We went on, as we do, about how good the sex would be, her unbeknownst love of anal and blow jobs, what their kids would look like and the obvious, ensuing painful divorce when she finally woke up to the fact that he is a complete douche bag.

So after a few more drinks and a shot or two...he slaps his hands on his thighs and simply says, "It's time!" and abruptly gets up and walks the couple of feet over to the next table where the beauty and her friends are sitting....He places his hands on their table and then in a fluid movement he lifts his left hand cocks it into "a gun"...points it at the beauty and says, "Hey baby!....How are you doing?"  The pressures that go through a man's mind, at such times, can lead to some pretty fucking amazing things that might come out of their mouths...But "Hey Baby?"...The beauty stared at him like he had put a turd in her drink....We were laughing so hard that we were all crying.
He immediately returns to our table a beaten and worthless man....It truly was a tremendous moment.

Fast forward....There are a lot of street festivals, through out the Summer, in Chicago....Where a gazillion people will flock to...They close off a few blocks have some live music, food, beer, drinks..sangria.....And women.  This is the perfect playing field to hold a match of "HEY BABY".....The game is played by two guys...Where you stand adjacent to the flow of traffic..(people walking)....You cannot discriminate...You take turns...When a woman or a group of women approach, you have to step out to the first one .....Shoot out your left hand as a gun and point it at her...And say, "Hey baby......." The one who can actually engage a woman in a conversation wins....It's a relatively simple game with few rules...But it poses an incredibly difficult and rigorous challenge to come out victorious....To begin an introduction to a woman with "hey baby" is extremely difficult to overcome....We have had about twenty strangers watch a riveting game of "Hey Baby"....The looks and the responses you get from the "hey babyees" is fucking priceless...It is not for the timid or self conscious....It is a game that requires stamina, quick thinking and extremely thick skin...Play at your own risk.

oh yes, erin....i have all sorts of talents!  I too can fall up a flight of stairs, get my arm caught in the elevator door, shut my coat in the car door, but probably one of my all time favorites is getting my head slammed in the door of a squad car, and then having to make a report on it for the on the job injury....i actually got whiplash, believe it or not!  The SGT that took the report tried his damndest not to laugh, my fellow dispatchers were crying they were laughing so hard....finally took pity on him and told him to let 'er rip......it's always nice to know that if nothing else, my entertainment value is still worth something!!!  (PS, for anyone who wants to know, those chevy caprice doors are frickin' heavy!!!  Don't open one in a high wind and stand in the opening!)

ORIGINAL: mistoferin As I sat down it promptly fell over backwards and deposited me directly into the window well of the home. I was folded in half with my feet straight over my head, my arms now pinned behind me from trying to brace my fall.

I was thinking "Man I never hae done anything quite that bad..." until I got to this one.  And now, I remember quite clearly my first visit to Nashville.

Angel and I were on campus with a bunch of his friends. We were all sitting around in the lounge and we would switch seats constantly, someone would get up for a drink and to make conversation easier, someone else would take their seat to chat with the person they were sitting with... so on.
Angel and I had been sitting on the couch, but I got up to use the restroom and someone else took my spot.  So, since the chairs were mainly taken, I sat on the ledge next to the couches instead. BAD idea, I didnt realize they werent flat, but rounded and sloped towards the window. As soon as I sat down, i promptly slid backwards, feet towards the ceiling and got wedged between the window and the ledge. My butt hit the sill of the window, to stop my slide, but there was no hand holds to push myself up. Once the giggling subsided, Angel tried to help me out. He is the smallest of all the people, and for some reaon he didnt think I was seriously stuck, just needed a bit of leverage. He wonud up coming after me, head first, and klanding in the V that was now my lap, and of course getting me jammed in worse.

It finally took 2 of his bigger friends, after extracting him from my lap,  stepping down only the sill and puling me back out.

Some first impression eh?

I've never worn bondage pants but I can't count the number of times I have hooked my purse on something I was walking past and had it yank me backwards.

One time it happened in a department store and I caught it on the hand of a mannequin. As I turned to see what I was caught on I got a glimpse of this strange "man" coming at me, fell backwards and he landed right on top of me. Imagine that scene from the movie "Road House" where that stuffed bear falls on that guy. Yeah, that was embarassing....I think I might have even let out a little scream.

Another time I was talking to this guy in his truck and I had my arms leaning on the door. He went to pull away but my bracelet was caught on the door lock. That one could have been ugly.

My college was in a fairly small town, surrounded by boonies, so a lot of parties were held in open fields. So, I'm at a field party when nature's call strikes. I'm one of those people who doesn't mind peeing behind a bush, but I'm always afraid I'm going to hit my clothing. I was three sheets to the wind by this point, but went to find a spot to heed the call. When some friends *mixed group...girls and guys* came looking for me fifteen min or so later..they found me sitting on the ground, naked from the waist down...*laughing* pulling burrs from my wool socks. I didn't live that one down for a veeeery long time.

Oh my! I've always worried about ungracefully falling while I'm wearing a skirt...especially a short skirt!
