i got word on my best friend.  the other day he was in a bac car accident. he was reaching for a cigararrette, his SUV ran off the road-down a 200 foot ravine!!!  there is nothing left of the car- and he has no memory of it.

he is being held for observation.

unbelievable!  i hope he is ok.

i cheated death 1 time. it wasn't my turn plane and simple.

my oldest UM cheated death 7yrs ago on the 26th when she was hit by a train.  though she did flatline for 30seconds after impact, she does remember seeing the tunnel of white light and meeting Jesus however she has no memory of the train actually hitting her. i think it's a good thing she doesn't ...it's better she's finally sharing her feelings about what happened to her.

you could ask the police (or state police) for a copy of a report filed at the department - it will contained info of the approx location where the accident happened.  now going down the ravine to retrieve the money sounds dangerous, PA ...there might be an access road or wooded path however that might on someone's property

it has been 3 days- im sure the car has been towed.  i would not attempt to walk down a ravine....200 feet. my back has 4 herniated disks. so i cant mountain climb.

Once, when I was 12, I was cutting open a whole package of uncut salami.  Yes, like an idiot, I was cutting towards me in a rush to get it open. The knife cut through so fast, the tip ended at my breastplate, just nicking the skin and causing a small amount of blood to bead . I have never forgotten that

I have been shot in the wrist; some dumb cluck put a gun to my head during a robbery and it pissed me off. I grabbed for the gun and he shot me through the wrist instead.

I have a scar on my lower back from a knife fight that I was in when I was a teenager. Just in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong gang

As a teenager, we used to go camping at this place not too far from us. It had this bridge that went across this little ole crik ( sorry, river... ) To pass the time we used to jump from the bridge into the water...it was about a foot and a half deep...the bridge about 15 feet above the water....

I had a huge death wish growing up...these are just some of my 'tries' at death.

LOL that is very, very true. I admit that I eagerly looked for ways to do so...I have mellowed through the years though...I don't go looking for ways now....I just try to avoid them when they do show up

Yet more proof that smoking is dangerous.

I hope your friend is ok.

I cannot decide if you guys are lucky or unlucky?
I mean the injuries and all sound just horrible but the not dying is the good part.

(But do take note that many of the near misses involve transportation of some sort or another
so perhaps living a life devoid of wheels might save you.)

I nearly died when i had my um.  I had a placental abruption and according to doctors came within an inch of my life!!  I have no real recollection of the point when it was really bad my body was in shock but I remeber them making me sign forms about what to do with my um in the event of my death as I had her by emergancy ceasarean at 27 weeks.  Then she nearly died !!!
It was a life changing experience, It took a year before it actually sunk in how close I had come to the end and then I got depressed and it took me a long long time to stop being so caught up in it and realise that I was indeed very lucky.  Watching it happen to my um has put me off ever wanting more children, I am blessed that she is alive and well after such a crappy start in life.

When she was 4 we were involved in a serious car accident in which I fractured a vertebrae in my neck.  We were extremely lucky in that car crash.  It brought back lots of mad bad feelings about nearly dying before.

I get the whole adrenaline rush bit god in all the stuff ive done in my life those incidents alone provided me with the biggest adrenaline rushes ive evre experienced and not ones I would ever wish to repeat.  Now I try to think if ever I feel weird about it that its was just heavy reminders to enjoy life and not take anything for granted.

Watching final destination made me worry a bit though lmao

She met Jesus? What was he wearing?

I had a bad car accident - I walked away (well, limped away with a few broken bones), the car was a total wreck.

It definitely led me to reassess my life, and made me want to do more, be more, be better... and I've tried hard to follow that.  Every big crisis has been a turning point for me, and each time I've tried to find the good out of it, and cope with the bad.  All we can do is get up and keep going, and keep trying to get better.

I don't know if I would call it cheating death.  However I have been slated for death twice in my life.
I'm still here.
First time I was in the military...they almost killed me.  I was given ten days to live.  Didn't change much about me
beyond the fact I told everyone what they meant to me.  Maybe I'm stubborn...maybe I got lucky in any event I'm clearly still here.

Second time I was fighting a fire.  The building came down on my partner and I.  We both had ran out of O2 by the time they found us.  Next thing I recall was waking up in the hospital.  Apparently my heart had stopped.

Got lucky I guess.

my buddy Jim, has internal injuries. guysi cant lose my best friend. we argue but he is close to being a brother.

his spleen and liver are in question. he is severely black and blue and on morphine galore. they dont want to do surgery as he had the obesity surgery.

he sounded coherant- then not.  i wanted to ask him if he would be chaged with a dui.
but at the moment- nothing else matters.
