Rumtiger..... First, are urinary tract infections a problem with your cat? If they aren't, don't worry about them....I have had cats for years, and never once had a problem with urinary tract infections or problems of any kind. Pet food companies jump on the same "healthy" foods bandwagon that human companies do.......hence the 50 different kinds of cat foods out there. I give mine the indoor cat variety, and they do fine on it. If your cat doesn't eat wet foods, take a piece of advice.....DON'T start him on it! Trust me, I'd love to totally wean mine off the canned stuf....it's expensive, but not much seems to be digested, and it shows in the litter box! I actually mix an indoor cat food vareity, and Science Diet Oral care and Hairball formula. Seems to work fine. Yes, kitty will eat when he gets hungry enough, but it's not healthy to let them reach the point that they are desperate for food...cats lose weight much faster than dogs, and getting back on them is tricky. When I got my oldest cat, he was homesick, didn't eat, and lost half of his weight in less than a week....yes, he finally started eating....unfortunately, he hasn't STOPPED! :) Good luck with kitty......don't feel too bad about being trained.....they do it to all of us! I think they are actually an alien race from outer space sent to insidiously take over the human race! Damn good at it too!
