yeah, there is something to be said about that.  although i have always had a slight allergy to doing anything that is mainstream.  I get off on being contrary

Noah,

When you are closed minded and judgemental it is so cute!

If encouraging diversity and experimentation while taking care to point out that what is usual becomes usual for good reasons is cute, then I guess I'm as cute as the very dickens.

Maybe not as cute as your new routine of sniffing around behind me and make yippy noises in lieu of substantial comments, but I'll put that down to what may be differing perspectives on puppy play.

Be a fucking man, dude. Stand up and engage my comments in substantial terms if you take issue with what I say. If your own comments are thoughtfully critiqued, defend them or revise them. Or ignore the the criticism if you've no respect for the source.

Until now I've considered the source of your comments on various matters and--having some respect for you--I didn't ignore you. But lately you're coming off as someone either unwilling or unable engage productively in a challenging public discussion.

In a recent thread in which I critiqued something siad, you pointed out a flaw in my critique. I admitted to my error and tried to engage you with various questions based on other parts of my critique. You ran from each question, littering your escape route with fallacious argumentation and transparent rhetorical dodges. I called you on those too and your response was more snit-and-run. Now you reduce yourself to popping up like the gopher on Caddyshack to take non-commital potshots.

You're capable of more.

What do you say?

I didn't run from the debate, you refused to deal with anything but petty semantic issues and that bores me.  Start a thread with a clear statement of your beliefs, not a piecemeal dissection of whatever minute angles of mine you want to dissect and I will respond.  Till then I will leave you to play semantic games with yourself.

I do have to agree with the posters saying sometimes its a shock value thing, but it depends on which way your looking at the goth subcluture. Some make the mistake of thinking of Gothic culture as a fashion where it is actually a mindset, chances are if your dark and alittle twisted you going to be called Goth. They do have certian things they have to deal with that are the same for the BDSM community but that is somthing all subcultures have to deal with, easyest to point out would be the fakers or posers. I dont see it as a definate connection but you will find alot of subcultures interconnected.
