You have a couple of variables here that likely need to be considered. First is the BDSM componant. This you have looked at to some extent and I do believe that intelligent people tend to have a more refined view of sex. This is not just BDSM but other areas like Polyamory and other "deviant" practices. Likely this stems from a basic curiousity as well as the ability to process information outside of the preconceptions of the larger social system.

Second you are basing it off kinky people who can use a computer and the internet. This is going to exclude some of the box of rocks folks cause they can't tell thier DVD drive from a coffee holder.

Finally you are basing it off folks who are articulate enough and motivated enough to post. I am sure there are lots of lurkers out there who just plain can't figure out how to make an articulate statement. It is probably best that they don't post though occasionally you will see a few that can't resist hitting the post button.
