Quivver -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 3:03:42 AM)

Sigh, CL ... my other bad habit, although I dont use it to Dom shop.....  eeeeeks, what a nightmare the Northern Virginia Craigs List is in the personals.  I've found it interesting reading though.  Hard to believe what some people post!

MasterBRD -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 3:08:42 AM)

Exactly!!!!   I have never been one for the easy hookup. After all...if everyone can have it do I really want it?

marsman -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 11:26:53 AM)

Yes! I have met 3-4 submissives and played real time with them including my very first submissive. But then I live near San Francisco...

I'm still friends with all of them...

One good thing about CL is that the people you meet are local. Long distance BDSM never worked out for me.

Faramir -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 11:29:36 AM)

In response to this thread I put up an ad at Craigslist.  So far three guys who swear they aren't gay have emailed me, just curious about submission.[:-]

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 11:34:53 AM)

I had far better luck with the same posting in Women seeking Men than I did in casual encounters. casual is mostly the I want to get laid tonight ads, at least those reading the others are different. I prefer to place the ad and weed through the responses than to search the ads looking for what I might want. When they reply, you get their email, and you can choose to reply or not to.
There is no BDSM section, though there probably should be. I think it would get a good bit of use, though most of the posters would be fake.  There are a lot of fake ads on CL, too, and remember when you email them they get your real address.  You might want to set up a freebie addie just for that sort of thing to make sure it doesnt mix with your regular mail incase of spam scams

SexyRed -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 11:37:14 AM)

I had posted an ad on CL seeking a Dominant. I got over 500 replies within an hour. Here is what happened:

1. most had no idea what dominant/submissive meant
2. most did not read the ad, they only cut and pasted a generic reply to every woman
3. I got tons of replies asking if I would dominate them or if they could clean my house
4. 99% of them thought that a woman asking to meet someone dominant in the relationship section (not casual encounters) meant I would sleep with them that evening

But on a positive note, my vanilla friend posted and received only 4 replies and just married the love of her life. Go figure.

It's not very polite or considerate to not reply to someone who has taken the time to write a detailed and personal letter to you.  You talk about setting up a special e-mail address, which is possible through many Internet providers, but have you personally done so?  (I am not talking about replying to obviously fake or sexually offensive and objectional inquiries, but only those who may be sincere, but do not meet your qualifications.)

Yes, and I agree that there are many phonies and thrill-seekers, and those who place ads just for their own amusement.  I am sure there are those on both sides (dominant or submissive) who fail to respond for whatever reason.

aparootsa -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 1:31:54 PM)

I've not had good luck meeting true kinks on CL; most are just into sex with dash of spice. Being into play a lot and sex not so much, it's not yet worked out. The local scene has been much MUCH better for meeting people. Start with whatever you can find (a munch, general invite parties, or special events) and take the time to talk to people, and you'll be established in a fairly short while. That said, ya can't win if ya don't play, so if you've got time and energy, post away on CL and see what you find.

Best,
aparootsa

DarkDaddyZ -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 2:12:14 PM)

It really depends on location. I think some have had success in SF Bay Area.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 2:13:38 PM)

Laugh..."keyboard commandos."  Never heard that expression before.  Good one.

Good luck... it seems to be heavily populated with keyboard commandos, at least in my area.

I have in fact set up a separate email address for my craigslist.  I specify in the ad I had listed that I wil reply to anyone who puts the effort into writing me a bit about themselves and what they are interested in learning or doing AS a submissive. I also specified that I would not reply to anything that was a single line, that was written completely in netspeak or that was obviously not looking for D/s but just for sex. And everyone who has followed that I have in fact replied to. Positive or negative, I have replied to every email I have gotten that was either a sincere inquiry about D/s, showed interest or at the very least put the effort into writing something worth reading.
I took the posting down after a week or so becasue I was getting far more interest than I expected (Real interest, not the expected wanker mail) and I didnt think it was fair to follow up on multiple people when I thought I had found what I wanted. Rather than constantly turning people down until I found out if he and I would work, I just removed the ad.

Does that answer your question?

Hey everyone, I was curious if anyone has ever used craig'slist.com to find or meet someone for BDSM? I was surfing around and found a lot of people looking for vanilla encounters and a few people looking for Dommes and subs.

(It's Craigslist.org).

Doesn't matter Craigslist.com will redirect you to .org

Laura -> RE: Craig's List? (6/3/2007 3:39:22 PM)

It was good about 2 years ago. At least in my area. Now it is all just men looking for a screw.

omg.. too funny, i guess You just get the pick of the litter..

i looked at the list for my area.. i have to admit i was very surprised that the pickings were so slim.

mindnbody -> RE: Craig's List? (6/4/2007 1:23:39 AM)

The list in my area is chock full of crazies....but then again...this is Austin.

meticulousgirl -> RE: Craig's List? (6/4/2007 7:31:59 AM)

I've come across the same thing however I'm not sure that I really want to use it for this.  I mean there isn't a big difference between here and there, it just isn't that appealing not to mention I'm not really out there seeking anything so it's more of the fact that I'm interested in what others are doing.

Every job I've ever gotten has come from the site so it's done well by me....not sure what anyone else thinks though.

Faramir -> RE: Craig's List? (6/4/2007 9:57:28 AM)

ZOMG I am a gay-magnet. I just got this email in response to my ad in Men Seeking Women:

Sugj: ill do whatever u ask

28 white male home alone looking for those married
> > or str8 guys that like to get there dicks sucked to
> > completion ...nothing in return xpected...drop by
> > drop ur load...can host or travel.. ... please have
> > pic ....i got some good pussy porn for u too watc

Wow--isn't that sweet?  And since I have a pic in the listing, he didn't even bother to read my ad.  I know just how submissive women here feel!
