No, Force Reconnaissance is not a special forces unit--the US Army, as part of SOC, fields Special Forces teams, whose primary mission are unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism and direct action, and while they have an intelligence mission, theirs is a specialized intelligence mission. Force Reconnaissance on the other hand has a primary mission of deep battle space intelligence gathering and shaping for the Force. While there is a small overlap, in that FR has a seconadary, limited set of DA missions, FR and USASF are differnet beasts, in that one is special operations capable, but the other is a special force. The part where you didn't catch the ARS reference (anyone who had the 0321 MOS would have) makes me wonder if you aren't bullshitting. I was an 0311 and an 1802 later--meat and potatoes service. It's funny how almost everyone who makes reference to their Marince Corps Service was a recon bubbah--1st and 2d Recon must have been way bigger units than I knew.
