You are welcome. It's too bad my allergy medicine was controlling my fingers when I typed that, though...I think the meaning is clear even if the sentence is totally nonsensical!

Oh, yeah, you bet I have chicken. :-)

Seriously though some people just like to get their kicks or indulge themselves with a little bit of online fun but would NEVER think about hooking up in RL.  It sucks because it makes some people wary if they are talking to someone that doesn't want to meet right away.  I've had to deal with the backlash when I start talking to someone who starts to worry that I am "fake" if I don't want to meet them the next day BUT I can't blame them for it.

It's discouraging to put yourself out there to someone hoping it will lead to something real only to find out it is just a game for someone that likes to goof around and hide behind their computer :(

What gets to me is that they actually make dates to meet.  I am not pushing for a meeting, they are begging for it.

And in response to a couple other posts, not everyone I've been interested in meeting have been a fakes.  Some of the fakes are quite versed and come off as sincere.

Butch,

I can appreciate the kind of honesty you express, and I'm chatting with a couple submissive males who are in the same position as you.  All I can say is to continue to be honest.  If these two men were genuine and simply lacked the courage to follow through, they have one less Domme as a possibility when they are finally ready to step out.

I thank you LadyPaige for your kind advice. I just hope I am at least not boring and worth a few key strokes from a dominate on a boring night to pass the time.

Drats.. and I was hoping this thread was about MMORPGs!  ..no, I'm not addicted to them.. *shakes violently*.

You weren't the only one! [:D]

I still think it is.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Question for On-Line Fantasy Game Players (5/24/2007 10:41:37 PM)

Laughing...I thought this thread was going to be about Dungeons & Dragons or something like that!

Edited to add: FUCK!  Seems like everyone else did, too.

I really don't expect any of the on-line fantasy game players to have the courage to answer this since that would mean admitting that they are fake.  My question (just in case I'm wrong) is.... Why do you make dates to meet when you know you have no intention of following through?  It's really getting annoying that I waste my time e-mailing and chatting with someone who isn't real.  I haven't been on here that long this time, but I've already started telling people I don't want to do the on-line thing, lets just meet face-to-face and get to know each other the old fashioned way.  At least that way I weed them out faster.

I also played AD&D as the only female in an 8 person group. Now that was interesting! That's where this lil sub picked up a bit of a feisty side. *grins* After all I am only one lady!

Actually, BDSM can be blamed for Me getting into D&D. My roommate's UM was five and started calling Me "Mistress" because she heard cubby call Me that... so we decided to take up D&D and I was the dungeon mistress... (hey, we hide in plain sight in this house)

My dungeon was also called the "darkroom" since she could see that there was a black curtain just inside the physical door and the walls were painted black. She, and anyone who heard that room discussed thought I was a photography nut, and totally understood why I wouldn't allow her to go in there... what with the dangerous chemicals and all ~chuckles~

MaamJay -> RE: Question for On-Line Fantasy Game Players (5/25/2007 12:49:07 AM)

LadyPaige, I totally agree with Your position. It is very frustrating to have talked with someone, even on the phone for ages, to be convinced that they are really going to show up, to have them begging for meetings, then do a runner at the last moment! Just been there. GRRRRRRRRRR! (Phew, that feels better!). And no, that's not been the case with all or even most subs I have considered ... so I'm not a "fake attractant" ... it just happens often enough to be truly annoying. I could understand if they phoned and said "Sorry Maam, i'm just not feeling ready for this meeting, i thought i was but i'm not, can W/we postpone it please?" but just vanishing is inexcusable. And distressing if I have genuinely begun to care about them as people. And yes, that cuts them off from at least one genuine Domme when (if) they decide they are finally ready. I try to get through the possible deal-breakers early on and I always make it clear that "no-show without notice" will terminate the relationship ... most of them earnestly promise that they would NEVER do such a thing ... hmmmm well their word isn't to be relied upon! So My only consolation is that if they can't be trusted to keep their word and at least turn up (and My first meeting is ALWAYS a safe social meeting in a cafe etc) then really, they'd be of no use to Me anyway.

So Butch, I respect your shyness and your wanting to take things gently ... just make sure that if you get to the point of trusting someone enough to commit to meeting them (and it should be a safe meeting such as I've described), DON'T shoot yourself in the foot by not turning up!

All the best to You LadyPaige and you too Butch!
Maam Jay

Teachme59 -> RE: Question for On-Line Fantasy Game Players (5/25/2007 12:12:47 PM)

Thank you Maam Jay

Perhaps the forum owners should consider an “on-line relationships only” section or designation. Sure would help eliminate misconceptions and false expectations.
Maybe include cam and voice for play capabilities.
If nothing else it would leave the other parts of the forum to serious inquiries and discussions.

Alumbrado -> RE: Question for On-Line Fantasy Game Players (5/25/2007 3:14:55 PM)

Aptly named thread... keyboard commandos are looking for a safe way to interact with others while protected by the computer screen and distance.

Some stick to killing RPG characters, some troll for online debates, and some pretend to be developing a relationship with another person.

Moving from behind the screen to actually experience real time is more than they can take.

Wish it were otherwise, but hey, people are flawed, some of them 'massively'... [:D]

Are you so sure the person is a fake? Could have gotten could feet maybe? As in such a case...I was supposed to finally meet face to face with a potential I have been talking with some time now. All seemed to be going good. Then I get a call on set date to meet that he was being rerouted due to fires...which was true as I was watching the news while talking to him on the phone.

I told him to just go ahead, follow the detours and visit his brother and we'd see him on the following Tuesday. Here it is now Friday evening, and no show, no call, no nothing. Yes...I am irritated....not at the fact he may have gotten cold feet...he could have at least called and said he changed his mind. Now I know, noone is required to do that...I just would think manners is a nice thing ya know?

Then again....something else may have happened to cause him to not show...I don't know, won't know until I talk to him again...if I do. I do know he is alive at least as I saw him log on to yahoo earlier today. I didn't jump at him as I was already irritated..i'm gonna see if he makes contact first.

If they'd had the manners to cancel, or even send an apology e-mail after I wouldn't be so frustrated.  If they got cold feet, their rudeness tells me I was better off not meeting them anyway...still frustrating.

A sincere conversation with someone wanting to learn is seldom boring.  It’s our chance to show off all our knowledge and experience and get all puffed up at how much you appreciate our mentoring.

Aww, man...

I saw "Online fantasy game", clicked it, and while the page loaded, got all primed and ready to give you three pages about the wonders and beauty of the World of Warcraft.

I feel so cheated.

Wait till she finds out that her favorite character's best armor and spells of invisibility are being sold on Ebay, even as we speak...

Ooops....[8D]
