If you can't envision dominance without whips or ropes, we're busy having two unrelated conversations. How many subs do you have who will kill strangers on your command?

None, but I've never found the need either.  Though training them to be able to kill an assailant might not be a bad idea.

Seriously though, I can understand there's more strain when you're hundreds of miles from home and under more pressure to perform than I'll ever know in my life.  At some point allowances should be made.

Just be nice to the people in Bn/Group Supply.  They might be willing to share.  I know I sure enjoyed being bound among the sleeping bags and hoping not to be found by some warehouseman.

BondageTopJere -> RE: military (5/23/2007 12:43:27 AM)

Kinda of ironic.  I was in the clearance side of the military, Navy,  and most of the people I worked with day to day knew I was into kinky stuff, although I never enlightened to how much I was.  Other than the occasional jibe and comment, it was basically a non-issue.  Then again, i was in the possibely the most, individualistic "Fuck you" rate you could be in.  Far more quirky people than I.

What is "iiight"?????????????????????????????

Actually the whole first sentence "iight so this is watsup?"  Please explain?[&:]

ExSteelAgain -> RE: military (5/23/2007 4:02:32 AM)

I found far more sanctioned subservience in my paper chase after I left the military. If you want to see pedantic, finicky and doctrinaire folks, try dealing with pretentious, tenured professors in grad school.

The tenet in both was if you don’t like it get out. In the military, I could say okay and move onto another career, but when I have invested lots of time, effort, money and dreams in grad school, it ain’t so easy.

It's urban slang. It tranlates into:
"Alright, this is what's going on."

ahhhhh~  don't you think you should be focused on your military service? After all, there IS a war on.

(edited because I just saw he is only 19.  This explains it)
I find your thoughts here, my dear LHM, to be a load of shit. Just because he wears a uniform doe not mean he forfeits alrights to have a personal life. When the time comes to to think of war, it'll be the majority of his waking thoughts. But if he's not in harms way, why should he not have a personal life?

MasterFireMaam -> RE: military (5/23/2007 8:24:59 AM)

Most military people I know in the lifestyle are simply discreet and don't flaunt it.

Look on the bright side: you have instant fetish wear. ;-)

And for the US military it is also Humilipalooza when you consider who the service people are bound to obey as Commander in Chief these days.

Actually, the worst "Humilipalooza" for me, as a soldier, was having to serve under Jimmy Carter.  What a loser.  Luckily, for us professional soldiers, The Gipper came along and saved us and restored our dignity and pride, plus he gave us a huge pay raise that got most of our enlisted men & women above the poverty level.

Too bad the gipper and George the 1st didn't keep up with those pay raises, when my wife and I sat down and figured it out I was making $4.85 an hour as an E-4 specialist with 3 years in service.  Our next door neighbors (a SGT)  were on food stamps to feed their kids.

But as others have said don't flaunt it, keep it quiet, be selective who you play with and just be careful if you are in a MOS where you might have to be part or the PRP program.

He sounds as if he feels his military life is cramping his style.  But then, I don't expect a teen boy to not have a private life but I would suggest he can the D/s bit until he's home.  He doesn't need the worry.  He has bigger things to focus on.

Seriously, can any reasonably thorough account of the military be given without mentioning that it is--whatever else it may be--a huge Switchopotamia D/s trip?

Of course there is one rank that can be seen as pure sub, but I was raised better than to talk about your Privates in public.

Marines, soldiers, airmen and sailors are not engaging in D/s in the course of their duties, anymore than managers, floorworkers, zookeepers and window-washers are.  D/s relationships are intimate relationships, whereas business and military relationships are professional relationships.

When I commanded a unit of Marines, I wasn't dominating them, and they weren't submitting to me.  To the best of my ability I led them, and they (for the most part) followed me, and there was nothing even remotely D/s about it.  We were all military professionals doing our jobs.  I've followed and supported commanders I thought were great men who had a huge, positive and fatherly influence on my life, and I followed and supported a couple of goofs I just gritted my teeth and tried to endure.  It wasn't submission, but rather professional military conduct.

Same thing in the private sector.  I didn't dominate my employees, and I don't dominate my students--I teach them.

All you weird little pussies who see the world as some show-down; frame life so that everyone is either submitting or dominating need to grow a pair and grow the fuck up.  D/s is intimate, between people engaged in intimacy.  Professional relationships are just that.

What a bunch of weirdos.

GADomCpl -> RE: military (5/26/2007 9:31:43 AM)

I am active duty military.  Most the most part, people at work don't know about this side of my life and that is just fine with me.  I have been friends with several other people in the military that were into the lifestyle.  So long as you don't go to a play party in uniform, or go to work with your collar on, I personally don't think its a big deal.
