Ok- when summer hits crime of all sorts go up. We are barely into May and we have seen 3 mini riots here already. This is before kids even are out of school.

1. more internet pranks happen when kids get out of school.
2. do you forsee a normal summer or a violent summer?
3. do you think the war has anythng to do with it?

Yeah, I can see a few mosques being blown up.

locally I think they will let the mosque alone. yes- we have 1 to my knowledge.

However we are on the cusp of gangs coming in. I dont mean diversity- I mean GANGS.  the state police says they are here- but have not taken hold yet.

The law  repremanded 2 of the provocoteers of the previous mini riot.

The area police departments work well together. where ever the problam is- surrounding PDs are there with in minutes and willing to help.

"law and order" is big here. I myself had to adjust- when I moved from Chicago tto here in 1988. there are things you simply dont say or do- as you will be fined or worse. on the one hand-  one can be mad at the law. on the otehr hand- i never ahve to leave lights on to make it look like someone is home. never.

Williamsport was once a nice area. well - gangs came in- now they are trickling south into smaller towns.

My town itself- while it isnt rich- it always had kids hang out on Market street- that tradition goes back maaybe 50 years.

surprisingly we get our share of heinous crimes. we send mostly local boys to prison over violent matters. I was surprised to see that we do.

if you get a traffic ticket here. you pay it period. you do not win just by showing up.

on the flip side i can go away and be reasonable sure no-one is climbing in my window and robbing the place.

these mini riots are of concern. im sorta worried about that.

I can foresee a violent summer here. Crime has been steadily rising and the police force and the money to support it has been steadily dwindling. Last summer here set records....this one has a good likelihood of being worse as there have been no positive changes and there is nothing being proactively done to prevent such.

todays paper mentions a shortage of cops...this due to many serving in the military.

i recall helping the kids fight for a skating rink here. the city did not want it due to liabilaty. In the end the kids got their skate park- a happy ending- well the other night a mini riot happened there. the kids arent even out of school yet. then that mass shooting in VA did not help.

Yes, I see a fairly violent summer ahead.  When the weather warms up it opens the door for all sorts of things it was too cold to do before.  Unfortunately crime is one of them.  Here, at least, the weather got much warmer much quicker, so it will probably be even more crime-filled than usual.  But I'm not going to complain.  I'm going swimming tonight.
