NEW YORK (AP) - Roger Clemens returned to the New York Yankees, making a dramatic announcement to fans from the owner's box during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners
At the end of the seventh-inning stretch, Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard told fans to turn their attention to the box, where Clemens was standing with a microphone. As the video scoreboard in right-center televised Clemens, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner made the announcement himself.

I was opening the pool today and listening to the game on the radio.. there was a cheer in the neighborhood when it was announced..

He's supposed to be back about the first week of June, if that holds he will debut against Boston.

Being an Astros' fan, it kills me to see him go away, but I'll cheer him on wherever he pitches (unless he joins the Reds LOL).

I wouldn't expect anything like the numbers that he put up in Houston.  He has NEVER been a great pressure-situation pitcher, and on top of that, you can't overestimate how much stronger the AL is than the NL these days.  Look at his statistics from when he was with the Yankees a few years ago, add about 20-30% to his ERA to account for his age, and that's what you can expect to get out of him now.  In other words...not great.  If he turns out to be a big difference-maker, I'll be truly surprised.

All valid points, Lam, but I think he will be that difference maker, because the Yanks have the offensive firepower to enable him to be so. He carried Houston and Toronto on his back too often, but now, he can just do enough to propel New York in the right direction. And when Mussina and the others get healthy, watch out, Boston.
