Dnomyar -> Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 6:27:54 AM)

This is from another post as usual. It was said that some people on here ask stupid questions. Why is asking a question on here stupid. Isnt that what this place is about.  Asking questions. This is a forum to learn from. How can you learn anything if you don't ask a question? Sould people learn about this lifestyle by trial and error? I think that I just asked a question.

LadyEllen -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 6:42:19 AM)

There are questions asked stupidly. There are rhetorical questions to which an answer would be stupid, or invite the responder to make a fool of himself.

But otherwise ask away. With the caveat that its likely one will receive at least one stupid answer!

KatyLied -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 6:48:41 AM)

There are stupid questions.  We see them here every day.

Dnomyar -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:00:01 AM)

Please give me an example of a stupid question.  People may ask a question that may seem stupid to you but is relevent to them.

CinatasForums -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:10:19 AM)

"There are no stupid questions, only stupid people!" - Heh heh my personal quote on that saying.

But in all seriousness, I believe that if you wish clarification about something on here or a something by all means ask your peers you will learn something, but don't try to learn everything here, take some initiative and go search some places about this lifestyle and learn on your own before asking everything here.  Something that may seem important to you can simply be looked up online and if posted on here has the tendancy to start a forum / flame war and just wastes everyones time.  If you can't find something online or you wish clarification as I stated before by all means ask but ask in a way so as NOT to start a flame war.

A general site that I found many many many years ago that helped me learn about this lifestyle that I believe is still up is "sexuality.org" there are quite a few FAQ's on BDSM and forms thereof.  Also Wikipedia has some generalized knowledge on the subject (wow showing my age a bit, my link is PRE-Wikipedia heh heh amazing!)  Well anyway hope this helped you with your answer.

Llyren -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:20:23 AM)

Okay, here's an example of a stupid question.

"Why isn't anyone here real?"

It's a question we see here a lot, even in my admittedly short time on this site.  But it's a very silly question.

tricia -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:22:57 AM)

I don't have a problem with "stupid questions' - as much as i have a problem with the people who deliberately seek out these questions merely to point out how stupid they are (to them).  The result - the topic gets more replies than the questions which are not viewed as stupid.

Good luck with that :)

I'd put that in the category of a question asked stupidly - asked in a different way, it neednt be.

tricia -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:25:15 AM)

lol - i can't help but agree that is an old, talked out, stupid question - with 300 equally stupid answers.

earthycouple -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:43:01 AM)

Anything asked in an overtly negative way seems stupid to me.  The thread about the subs for Dommes chat room  being run by a gay guy...terribly negative and just plain wrong in my opinion.

What I don't understand is why people feel they have to respond to what doesn't apply to them.  I have to say I see many more negative answers than I do questions.

It truly bothers me when someone asks a legit question and people then rant about the OP's opinion being wrong.  Best example I have is the person asking about names for herself and her Master.  Instead of ignoring the post, those who didn't believe in it told her it was wrong.  Why?

There are no answers why people ask questions negatively or poorly and there are no answers as to why people respond negatively and poory....beyond human nature and our want to jump?

I agree with you, Lady Ellen.  But when phrased that way, or worse, as it so often is, I must stand by my assertation that it is a stupid question.

Trampler -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:53:32 AM)

Well part of it, is because it is online. It is very easy to be rude online. Another is that simply we are not as openminded as we think. Also I suspect that part of it is they want to have that 1 more point that will get them to the next level.

sunfleur -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:53:59 AM)

which is worse?   asking a 'stupid' question or demeaning someone for asking a question.

if you don know the answer to a question, then asking about the subject is the best way to learn.  sad to see that some feel the need to thwack someone for asking out loud.

"the only stupid question is the one not asked".  dont know who wrote that.. but i think it fits.

I would imagine that it's not really the question that is asked, but rather how it is asked. I admit that I have seen some pretty 'stupidly' asked questions that if worded differently would have received different answers.

IrishMist -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 7:59:01 AM)

It's not asking the question that is stupid; its the way the question is formed.

I tend to always look at the profile of a person before I answer something. If the question asked, considering the profile of the person, is just down right idiotic, I answer in kind.

Dnomyar -> RE: Stupid Questions (5/3/2007 8:02:06 AM)

How to word a question is a major drawback on here. It seems no matter how you word it someone will take it's meaning in a different way.

Yes, I will agree with you there. However, I do believe that if you take the time to word a question using some common sense, it will cut down on the 'rude and inconsiderate' replies that you may generate.

Common Sense, don't you know that common sense died a long time ago.

Perhaps for you it did, but I have not found that to be the case with most. [:)]

Where are all of the real subs?

edited to add.....I didn't read the other responses and didn't realize that real had already been covered.  But it is one of the most stupid questions.  Along with the entire "I had sex with a stranger and now he's ignorning me...why is this happening?"
