DesertRat -> Profiles that violate the CM TOS (5/1/2007 5:08:36 PM)

Hi, friends. Lately, I've been noticing an increase in the number of  "slam" profiles over on the other side of the site. Profiles like "avoid [member's handle]" , or "[member]scam", or "[member]isafraud"...stuff like that. I always report them. It's not because I know and/or like the person being slammed. Hell, they may very well be scammers...who knows? I report them because I don't like the site all junked up with negative profiles, especially if they violate the TOS. There's one over there right now. It's been there for a week. It mentions a member by screen name in the profile title and in the main text. I reported it five or six days ago and it's still there.

I wonder what's up with that? I guess life's pretty good if that's all I can find to bitch about. Cheers!

i think the powers that be are hoping we will do just as you are doing...police our own, due to the large influx of new members and a limited CM staff~

Some of these profiles may be in bad form, and may in fact be in violation of the TOS, but some people behave so badly that perhaps their bad behavior deserves to be exposed.

I always report them too, but never bother to check whether they're taken down afterwards.

Well perhaps the person who put it in there had evidence and passed the scrutiny of Mod11. Then what ?

There is at least one post on this forum, supposedly from a Mod saying to stay away from a certain person. I was taken aback a bit actually, why not just remove them, or give warning ? It had the "Top" heading and stayed at the top as people posted to other topics. I thought only a moderator can do that. Am I mistaken here ?

I think the case you are talking about is a little different. The person concerned is well known as a troll and starts the most ridiculous posts. The problem is that she ofter appears with new profiles and names. Even so most people can spot who it is straight away. The mod was just telling people not to respond to that person in any of their guises.
