Patrick J. Buchanan hits one out of the ballpark here, gutsy guy.
The Alien In Hokie Nation

quote:

"In our diversity is our strength!" So we are endlessly lectured. But are we really a better, safer, freer, happier, more united and caring country than we were before, against our will, we became what Theodore Roosevelt called "a polyglot boarding house for the world."

domiguy -> RE: Patrick J. Buchanan: The Alien In Hokie Nation (5/1/2007 1:12:22 PM)

doh. never mind.

DomKen -> RE: Patrick J. Buchanan: The Alien In Hokie Nation (5/1/2007 1:17:00 PM)

I'm sure Patrick Buechanan will be firmly in favor of deporting all ethnic minorities. Let's start with the Irish.

Pat Buchanan is just an old white guy who has not one solution but will gladly tell you where all of our problems lie and who is to blame for it.....He is a dinosaur. He is an old and miserable man.

domiguy, thankyou for your opinion but I've met Pat Buchanan and his sister Bay (Angela) I've been in his home in Mc Clean, Va. for a political function and he is none of those things.
We have mutual friends and they'd disagree with you also.

domiguy -> RE: Patrick J. Buchanan: The Alien In Hokie Nation (5/1/2007 2:05:15 PM)

I deleted the post just because I'm not up to following it....Also why I deleted it is I don't think he is exactly "miserable." Some thing Pat says are "dead on"...But when you get to this type of a topic it is nothing more than inflammatory....He has no interest in helping...He is out of the loop....I do stand by what I said he will point to a group of people, immigrants, and old white America will shake their head in agreement that they are the source of all that is wrong in their lives today.

I wish when people came to the U.S. as immigrants that they would take to heart the "arbitrary" values of our Country...But you know this is the "great experiment" And change is imminent and every generation passed and future will recall a better day and probably have something or someone to blame.

I've met him too, Popeye.  He's one of the few mainstream politicians I like.  And his book, State of Emergency and his many comments regards the '' The war on terror '' have been right on the money.

You are absolutely wrong.  Did you read his book "State of Emergency"?  Before you make such sweeping and hyperbolic statements, you should read it to, at least, understand the premise he is operating under.  No one that I know of has a problem with legal immigration or any particular immigrant group.  When you country is being colonized by illegal immigrants then you have a bit of a problem and that is the situation we are in here in the U.S.  We have many millions of people who consume every service available and yet pay nothing in taxes.  We have people whose identities are not known and commit terrible crimes (recklessly or intentionally) and then vanish.  An enormous amount of people want to come to this country to make money....period.  The percentage of people coming to this country to flee oppression or because they embrace America's ideals are the vast minority.  Did you fail to notice the protest in L.A. where a large number of hispanic immigrants were flying the purported flag of .....what was it....Altzlan?  No...I have that wrong but I know that someone here will correct me.  Do you know where that country is located?  Well....L.A. would be in its borders.

Buchanan is a man like Reagan, Goldwater, Truman, T. Roosevelt.  They are the last of a dying breed and this country is much worse off because we don't have anyone to carry the mantle.  The Brek Girl certainly isn't up to the task.

Er...haven't you just described the history of America?

Isn't the real problem that these new immigrants aren't white and don't speak English and the real anxiety is that they will change the nature country from an Anglophone culture to a latin culture? I remember reading years some 30 years ago that America will be Spanish speaking by the middle of this century. Isn't that the real problem many people see and not migration itself?

Meatcleaver,
In a word...NO!
And I, for one, am sick of seeing a legitimate concern regarding the bleeding of this country and it's local and national resources along with a request by the people that we simply turn to enforcement of current laws being being more than it is. Instead we are accused of being heartless racists.
Enough!

Well, one could point to Iraq, and say the same thing. That said, why are people so enthusiastic about welfare and free health care for Iraqis, but not Americans?

Since learning that the Iraqi Parliament is going to take 2 months off, I've come to the conclusion that there is NO EMERGENCY REQUIRING US TROOPS.

Since they're not working 6 days a week, 14 hours a day, it must not really be all that important.

Not important enough for one American Life or one American Dollar to be needlessly wasted.

God Damn Brother.....good post. After 2500 plus posts here....I've become a little bored lately. I especially liked the part regards those who consume but pay little in taxes. Let's forget about state and federal income tax....just on property taxes alone, I paid a few dollars shy of 10k last year.....and I damn sure didn't get my monies worth - Bet.

I woulda at least liked to have seen it benefit the folks who are legal citizens here instead of watching good money thrown after bad in a crumbling system that selectively enforces laws that are already on the books.

What does this have to do with the problem of runaway illegal immigration in the USA?  I didn't get any of this from the original post you made.  I must be very confuzzled.

Edit...damn tags
And I was only responding to the illegal immigration situation in it's entirety.  I did not even address the specific dangers of porous borders making it way too easy for terrorists.

I think it is 2042 when white folks will be outnumbered by minorities in this Country...Every generation finds something or someone to pin all of their problems to and claim that they are to blame for their lot in life.

Personally I think everyone should come to this Country through rhe proper and legal channels...However, it has yet to make a single impact on my life or how I live regarding this huge illegal immigration problem....

I for one love the diversity of this Nation....People have always come here hoping for prosperity...And quite frankly I have found more love for America by many newer immigrants than many white folks who just take the majority of what America has to offer for granted.

White people are pissed...They see people holding up a flag of another Country and they blow a gasket....Get over it.  Life goes on.

Yes, and like him or not many of the things that he warned us about have come true, "outsourcing", globalism, Russia, "NAFTA", one-way trade deals, falling wages for working people, out of control immigration.

Who was talking about illegal immigrants? I wasn't and Buchanan in the column linked by the OP wasn't.

A pertinent section of his disgusting little diatribe:
quote:

Almost no attention has been paid to the fact that Cho Seung-Hui was not an American at all, but an immigrant, an alien. Had this deranged young man who secretly hated us never come here, 32 people would heading home from Blacksburg for summer vacation.
What was Cho doing here? How did he get in?
Cho was among the 864,000 Koreans here as a result of the Immigration Act of 1965, which threw the nation's doors open to the greatest invasion in history, an invasion opposed by a majority of our people. Thirty-six million, almost all from countries whose peoples have never fully assimilated in any Western country, now live in our midst.

So I pointed out that the Irish have never fully assimilated either and that I would be happy to see Patrick shoved onto a plane bound for Dublin.

Nice attempted strawman though. I'm sure you were aware that Popeye is obsessed with it and you could count on at least one post by him as well as support from those who didn't bother reading the racist outrageous column that started this thread.
