They tried something like this on mythbusters, and they didnt find anything that actually worked.

Not to mention, if a cop was following you and couldnt read your plate, they'd pull you over and you'd probably get a ticket.

And....

Now most camera's are digital as opposed to the film camera's they used a few years ago, therefore the flash does not blind them.

Here is the thing about redlight camera's though...

They have noting to do with safety and everything to with collecting revenue. That's why they make the yellow light so short.

It is illegal to tamper with your plate in such a manner.

If you want to drive fast...and learn to drive WELL and fast, not just like some idiot trying to be cool...go to track days with the official car club of whichever manufacturer made your car.  Have a blast, haul butt all you want, do it without the potential to hurt anyone or get tickets.  Get it out of your system on the track (and learn how to better control your vehicle in adverse conditions), then go back to the street afterward, relax, and enjoy those luxuries you so sorely missed on the track.  Like air conditioning, a stereo, nice, soft suspension, cushy seats, sound insulation...I could go on... *smiles*

I went through a phase (which lasted for many years) of speeding regularly and interestingly I got most of my fines after being pulled up by police (and generally in marked vehicles, not the unmarked ones) rather than by going through speed cameras.  The lesson for me - reduce my speed and strangely enough, no more tickets.

I've never gotten a ticket or been pulled over, and I'm usually at least 15-20% over the limit.  But then I see driving as work, so I'm not chatting on the phone/talking with passengers/etc...I'm like a fighter pilot w/ my eyes peeled for the evil Luftwaffe highway patrol!

People it has NOTHING TO WITH SAFTY!!!

Red Light and Speed camera's are all about making revenue!

It is a giantic tax on the middle class and lower middle class drivers.

Reducing speeding has nothing to do with safety? Got even a tiny shred of evidence to back that up?

You cant win with speed camera "enthusiasts" or better still extortionists or shake down merchants.

If accident rates go down then they say ....told you so we need more speed cameras.

I used to speed around and got lots of tickets.

One day I thought to myself "what the hell is my freaking hurry?"

I have gotten 2 tickets in the last 6 years.  One was a fix-it ticket.

Link#1
British press release. No evidence provided and no way to even investigate the claims made.

Link #2
Washington Times? The Moonie mouthpiece is always suspect and in this case the article is about revenue estimates related to stop light cameras. No evidence related to reducing speeding and safety provided.

Link #3
A very interesting article on stop light cameras but nothing on speeding beyond a passing reference. Again nothing relevant.

Link #4
A brit tabloid whinging about a company using salesmanship to sell its product. Still nothing relevant.

Want to try that again or were these the best you could do?
