Let me get this straight.

You think that after Clinton oversaw the largest economic expansion of our country in our country's history, followed by the gradual or not so gradual demise (after the initial cutting interest rates boom) of our economy over the last 4 years under the guidance of both a Republican congress and a Republican president, that the current economic woes are the fault of the Democrats?

Umm, ok.  Dont bogart that joint.

Sinergy

p.s.  I dont mind, I plan to buy a place this year.  I qualify for a loan big enough to buy a place today, but I would rather get twice the house for half the money in November.

I'm pretty sure that the Clinton bubble burst was an evil Republican conspiracy too

Now that you mention it

Clinton rode the dot com blitz right up until 98, then his bubble burst, and by the time the fallout reached us peons, Bush was in office.

Subrob, yes, you have it right and Synergy does not.  But Synergy is a certifiable Clintonista.  Clinton increased taxes to their highest peace time rates in our nation's history.  Dot com drove our economy and when that bubble burst we back slid immediately into a recession.  What bailed us out of that recession was not another boom in some techno-industry but a reduction of the income tax rates.  Simple economics; the higher the taxes the more the economy constricts and the lower the taxes the more the economy expands.  The Dow is now over 13,000 and under the Bush administration we have seen the largest sustained real estate boom since... well...ever.

But tell Synergy to relax.  The Democrats have promised that if they get elected in '08, they are going to raise taxes to a level even higher than Clinton.  Once again, things like an estate tax for estates that are valued at over $200,000.00 will be on the table for the Dems.  Tell me, where is your house located that its value is less than $200,000.00?  In this area the average house is assessed at a value of $438,000.00.  With an estate tax that kicks in at $200,000.00 most people's children could never afford to keep what they inherited anyway.  Go Dems in '08!!!!

The name is spelled Sinergy.  Please make a note of this.

I disliked Clinton as well.  Although I respected his intelligence and his ability to do his job in the face of rabid Republican investigations and obstruction of his policies.

largest sustained real estate boom?

Weird, every realtor I speak to and everything I read seems to think that the market is flat.

This is a euphemism for people not lowering their asking prices coincident with people not selling their houses.

Not to mention we had a record number of foreclosures in the first quarter of this year.  Banks will lower
prices to vacate properties.

As I said, dont bogart that joint...

I expect prices to drop by about a quarter in the months ahead.  We'll be looking for something with a couple of acres for elbow room.

Where I will be buying crashed last year.  The market is completely dead there, and I will start looking in a couple of weeks actually.  But then I dont mind making stink bids, long waits, bargaining, long escrows, etc.

So, IF prices drop you'll be thanking Bush so that you could afford to buy? Did it ever occur to you to buy BEFORE prices started to go up

Like I did

Bill was good for the economy in the 1990's.
Bill Gates!
I have to laugh at those people who say "Clinton ushered in" the booming economy of the 1990's.
Sure, Bill Gates and a lot of guys were just sitting around waiting until that low-life got in the White House.
All that stuff in the 90's was going to happen anyway.
It didn't matter who was in office!
We could have had the Green Party in the White House and Bill Gates and Steve Jobs would have done what they did when they did.
As usual, Clinton took credit for the good but no responsibility for the bad.

And, we're doing pretty good real estate wise here in Myrtle Beach,S.C.
A realtor who owns a condo in this development sold 6 condos this month alone.
Of course we don't have the "Northern prices" here though.
These places would go for $300k up in New Hampshire where I moved from and $400-$600k in the Boston, Mass area.
Here they go for $150k!
Nice!

Assuming this is not a snarky comment and you actually care about the vagaries of my life from 2000 to today, I will answer the question.

I owned two houses before Bush was elected.  The first doubled in price in 5 years, the second I traded for a signature on the no spousal support line in my divorce.  Considering my income was six figures and hers was zero, it was a good deal for me.
