There are many things I liked about the South, others that seemed backwards... I have a friend that lived in TN for a while. One of her neighbor's daughter contracted a veneral disease, and she had to tell the boy she had been intimate with that he had infected her with it. Her daughter just about died from the embarassment of having to do that, and most kids wouldn't at 16. In my state if a person comes down with a VD the health department collects the information of who the person was intimate with, sends those people a letter informing them that they have been exposed to a VD, and then they can go into the health department for free screening. No one has to inform a partner about their status... the health department does this. It keeps transmissions down. I think any other system is just plain backwards.
