I was chatting with someone about TV characters I have lusted after over the years.
Dr Kildare:  Dedicated, passionate yet clinically detached more often than not.
Mr Spock:  Dedicated, honest, logical, emotionally detached more often than not.
Ilya Kuriakin (man from uncle):  Dedicated, hard working, focused on his task, not prone to emotion.
James Bond:  Passionate and uncaring.  Would use you or torture you, which ever suited his purpose over time.
... the list goes on but, I am sure you get the picture..
The men who have attracted me in the media have all had a similar trait.  Logical, passionate, yet detached.

If I look over the patterns of my life I have sought out similar characteristics in my mates.  In fact, for the most part, I fit these same characteristics, unless someone breaks down the barriers.

Did the media influence you?  Can you find predictible patterns in what attracts you, and the choices you have made with your partners?

Curiousity drives me..
Kyst

If by "media", you mean mass entertainment culture, then you bet!

I think I imprinted Marilyn Monroe at age 3...
While my preferences have developed ... somewhat... since then, I owe it all to Some Like it Hot...

I don't look for Marilyn in my partners, not at all, in fact.  However, I knew even back then that girls were fascinating...

Jadzia Dax on Deepspace Nine, oh my fucking god, brilliant, fine shot, loved rough sex, and fucked a Klingon.  What the hell more could you ask for other than being Jewish?

Wow! What's kind of funny is that I have never had a "type". I consider myself to be a "womanizer".

I need to define that one.

To me, almost all ladies are beautiful, in some way. I can appreciate a lady's ability to sing.  But, I also appreciate a lady that can't sing but, still has fun just "belting one out", at karaoke. I can appreciate an "airhead" as long as there's some common sense. I appreciate intelligence.

It is very rare that I find a lady to be completely unattractive.

Now, to the part about why I put the word "womanizer" in quotation marks: I don't "use" women in the negative connotation of the word. I am up-front and honest about my relationship status (with all parties, involved) and even if the "relationship" turns out to NOT be a long-term thing, I like to think that I contribute something to her experience.

So, when it comes to attraction, there are so many that 'work" for me that I cannot, in all good conscience, claim to have a specific influence other than my impressions and observations of that, particular, individual.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

maybe you should be trolling the Gor forum, Mike.

By the way, is Klingon-fucking kosher?

Nooooo -aaaaah!

It's a thread about media characters.  Even the real ones are fictional..

I'll go Michael one better.  Cliche as Seven of Nine is to pick, it is her cold, robotlike voice that really makes it work..  Otherwise, she's just Barbie (hey, what about Barbie!!).

when i was younger i do believe so... it was kinda funny for the longest time in highschool i was sooooo in love with eddie vedder (hell i still find him very attractive) well i eventually lost my virginity (as most girls do) and the guy who i lost it to (lets call him george) and i went to a pearl jam concert.  it was only then with eddie vedder singing about thirty feet from me did i realize how much george and eddie looked alike.. i swear they could have been brothers.  so yeah i do believe that my love for eddie did influence me somewhat in a subconscience way in my feelings for george. the older i get the more i find different things attractive.   things that would have turned my off in highschool now are a big turn on for me.

If you're looking for guys to provide subconscience influences you've come to the right place.

And now, a riddle: What do Stazia and Topo Gigio have in common?

...going blind, I'd guess:  saying "Ed-dy, kees me goodnight" in a bad accent...?"

Now, "bad accent" would be a subjective value judgement...

What you seem to be describing is a certain archetype that you find appealing...

I have one too, someone that fancies themselves the hero archetype tends to appeal to me.

No media influcnes, for me.  Don't get me wrong, ther are several I think are HAWT, but, mainstream media doesn't really show the type of women I am attracted to/pursue.

i have to agree with n4sdchastity here. i've lusted after many on-screen characters, and yes, i'd probably have sex with the actors in a heartbeat, but that's never really affected the type of people with whom i actually end up.

Hi Missokyst.  Fun thread :)

Clint Eastwood was my boyfriend since I was a teen; he just never knew it.
