~fast reply~

This may not count, but my son who is also 23 and in the Navy was on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Iraq for 6 months.    While there, they did lose two pilots over Iraq.     While my son was not in the middle of the worst of it, I still worried about him, and was very happy when he returned to the states.

I am not sure when he will be going again, but I am not looking forward to it.

To all who support us in our fight, thank you. For those with loved ones over there, thank them for serving, from this Soldiers heart. I'm in the Guard, got out of active duty after Desert Storm. I'm fixing to be deployed for (re)training for 5 mos. [military job change] after that I'll be at Arabic school in Monterey, CA for approx. 1.5 years. At least Mistress is looking for a job in CA, so She can move with me. I'm sure I'll be deployed soon thereafter. No prob, I did know what I was doing when I reenlisted after 14 years out. Really though, it is wonderful to read the posts of so many who support  the troops. I get so tired of the negativity and verbal attacks.
Excelsior, Alexi

Thought of something else: Yes, it really sucks when any of my brothers/sisters in arms are wounded or killed, and especially for their loved ones. However, all with family and friends over there, In Afganistan and Iraq combined the total casualty rate is nowhere near some of the single battle casualty rates in WW2 or, heaven forbid, WW1. We have good training, equipment, and the backing of some of the greatest people on Earth - you. Odds are your loved ones will come home safe.

Hello patina,

I hope your son stays well.

Yes, my brother has been sent over twice, so far.

sweetnurseBBW -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 6:12:16 PM)

I have a very close family member that will be returning to Iraq for a 3rd time. Everytime I see him leave I wonder if it will be the last.

I want to rant, but I won't. These brave men and women aren't firemen, or policemen, they are soldiers, signed up and sent to do a job. Stop blaming our “Great Leader” and start blaming the real evil in the world. I know… guns kill people, just as pencils make spelling errors.
Soldiers aren’t there to get scholarships, they are there to stomp out those that would do us harm every second of the day if they could.
Some think that we are not at war. Well, maybe we should all lay down and hope for the best and see what happens.
Okay… like I said, I won’t rant.
Those that join, join because they believe in something. We shouldn’t take it away from them just because “we” are too soft. Let them do what they do and we can sleep, knowing that we are safe.

Shame on all you bastards. You stole this wonderfully comfortable, soft, luxurious bed, no one deserves to sleep in such exquisite comfort. Goodnight.

Too late...You ranted....This is not the thread for your rant it is not needed here....

To all who have served...Thank You!...To all of you who have loved ones serving I only wish you and them the best and may they all come home as safely and as soon as possible.

HutchGarahl -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 8:00:49 PM)

8 out of 10 members in my family have served or are now serving..from generations on. I have a 21 year old neice currently in the guaqrd and is on call for active at any time. My other neice now out of service with honors due to shin splints...is married to a marine who will more than likely be called. He has served 2 terms in Iraq already in his young life and has stated he is ready to go again.

My thoughts and prayers continue as our men and women serve, and to the families and friends who wait for their safe return.

opensoul -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 8:20:25 PM)

To all who have loved ones in the military, KNOW this they are the best trained hardest working people and they love you and this country!!! I was in the military for 20 years and I may not agree with Bush but I will never lose faith in the men and women of our armed forces !!!! They do a job many run from , even with some who say no to it they step up and always do their best!!!!

Greetings Jaunty1

Welcome back home.

I am very fortunate to have gotten to know jauntyone through the forums and email.  She is certainly a slave with much beauty.

My Master is currently serving in Iraq.

I may not understand completely what everyone feels with loved ones in service, but i can say honestly with you I feel.

grlneedstolearn -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 8:34:52 PM)

One of my friends just got sent over with the Marines in the infantry patrolling streets. And he was telling me that the worst thing that has happened was they were on patrol and the convey in front of them struck an IED device. He was 2nd in the convey. A lot of hair raising goes on over there, and he's been sending me home movies of his time over there, kind of like a video journal entry. Best of luck to everyone who has a loved one serving in the war.

I just wish anti-war protesters knew what most troops thought of them.

As a vet who served in the first Gulf war and who has many friends still serving in herr dubyah's failure, I know what MANY of them think first hand.  The boots on the ground AGREE with anti-war types, because the troopers ARE anti-war.  Most know herr dubyah's war is a complete facade.   Reich-wing GOPigs/terrorists think they speak for the masses.

Sorry, you "logic" is fragile, obtuse, and factless.  This is herr dubyah's war.  FACT.  He wanted this war,  he desired bloodshed, and he's murdering my brothers and sisters on a daily basis.  Reich-wing scum use their anti-logic/anti-troop rant: "they signed up for this..."  lol.  Laughable and sad and quite anti-American.  Our troops are not pawns that serve at the feet of adolf dubyah.  Shame on YOU for thinking our troops are nothing but meatbags that deserve to die because it is the will of adolf dubyah.  Shame on you....

More like shame on you little txsubbie

I was in Somalia and all I can say is hats off to any and all who willingly and eagerly stay in the service or re-enlist for a second or third time.

Ya'll are the greatest

why is it shame on him?  he is entitled to his opinion.  i too disgaree what bush has done but i support who is over there.  It wasn't there decision but to degrade his right to feel as he does isn't right.

IrishMist -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 9:26:25 PM)

Neither is right to take a thread that was obviously started as a way of saying thank you to all and turning it into a personal rant. That is where my 'shame on you ' came from.

Congrats to you that you believe in what the president has involved us in.  i do not.  i have no respect for him whatsoever so for you to belittle another based on that has no credibility.  The person is standing up for what he doesn't believe in.  Have you looked at the polls and seen how many believe what Bush has done is the right course?  It isn't and there is no reason to belittle another for thinking what the US is doing is wrong.

MellowSir -> RE: LOVED ONES SENT TO WAR (4/28/2007 9:28:12 PM)

I think we've gotten even for 9/11 even if it was with the wrong people, bring our sons and daughters home rather than letting them die for a lost cause...I certainly support americans abroad, not the politicos who aren't risking their lives fighting the "wars" they wage with lives.
