Please don’t jump to any conclusion as to my views on abortion, states rights, etc. This is just a philosophical question:

If the mother is the creator of the unborn child and therefore has say over what to do with her creation would not the father have equal say? She may be incubating the child but in terms of creating it, he played an equal role.

And why would the "right to abort" end at birth

Um. We're entering the Reductio-Ab-Absurdum territory, aren't we now?

I don't believe that it would be right to derail this thread with a discussion of our feelings on that topic.

The absurdity began with you, my oh-so-Liberal friend, when you claimed that a Mother can destroy what she herself created

And I have always wondered why, if it's okay to kill a baby, we must stop killing them at birth. WHY stop there... there's no reason for it

I wonder what would happen if it were possible to transfer the fetus into the abdomen a pro-lifer to carry to tern.. regardless if the gender of the host.

Those that object to abortion would be obligated to accept the transfer and all the responsibilities and cost that come with it.

Were that possible then too, pro deathers could meet the adults they would otherwise have slaughtered as babies.

Really, I have nothing against the "right" for Liberals to do this to themselves, as it serves society in the long run.  President Bush would never have been elected had Liberals never devoted themselves to winning this mass Darwin award... Roe vs. Wade is one of the best things that has ever happened to America, in my opinion.

It's just fun to poke sticks at the weird justifications that Liberals use to do this, that's all.

Well since you INSIST on drawing out my thoughts, here they are:

Until children are set free by their Mother, they are her livestock.

Better SHE owns them, than the State.

Any other questions?

Why stop at just forcing some anti-abortion yahoo to carry the child to term.

Why dont we force this person to be a "parent" to this child, to care for it, subject them to the scrutiny of society as to their ability to be a good parent, and worry about the child and support the child through it's issues in life until they die?

Having a child doesnt end when the doctor spanks it.

Anti-abortion people tend to forget that when the child is brought to term it inflicts another mouth-breather on a limited system space, brought into this world without a support system that wanted it to be here in the first place.

This is on the news today -

"Two US lawmakers seek to protect abortion rights"

2 hours, 17 minutes ago

" WASHINGTON (AFP) - Two US lawmakers introduced legislation Thursday aimed at codifying a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy, one day after the Supreme Court banned a controversial late-term abortion procedure.

The proposed law would codify abortion rights for the first time, said Democratic Representative Jerrold Nadler (news, bio, voting record), who joined the effort launched by Senator Barbara Boxer (news, bio, voting record).

The legislation "would bar government -- at any level -- from interfering with a woman's fundamental right to choose to bear a child, or to terminate a pregnancy," Nadler said. "

I have always been impressed with Barbara Boxer.

It will be interesting if this law passes, because the court challenges from the religious right will be stacked up for miles.
