Too true UR. The Bush administration could learn something from the new Russia Putin is building. They've leanrnt a lot of lessons from the cold war days. The best way to neutralize Russia is to suck them tie them into the western sphere with diplomacy and trade rather than getting paranoid and seeing them as an ideological enemy. Meat.... After the ''old Kremlin'' fell, that drunk Yelsten gave way to the oligarchs and provocateurs to come in and privatize everything ; the gold, art, and mineral resources were looted and sold off. Very similar in fashion to how Kissinger, George Schultz and the Chicago boyz school of economic philosophy encouraged Pinochet to privatize all Chile’s infrastructure and natural resources. Damn….they stole the whole scenario right outa 1984 What resulted was handful of greedy oligarchs and crooks looting and attempting to de-nationalize mother Russia. At least with the old Kremlin, the poorest of the poor had small pensions of money and subsistence for a little meat, bread, potatoes and vodka. With the greedy bastards at the helm, the poor had to fight for the simplest of rations, and there was no security. Putin came in, paid off all the debt, restored security, the national identity, and either exiled or jailed all the looters, oligarchs and crooks. Anyone who knows the history and the geography can see what a truly awful job Bush has done with regard to Russian foreign policy. Before Bush and Cheney came into power, Russia and China were mortal enemies with large contingents of troops stationed on each others borders. Bush’s confrontational-premptive approach and unilateral military action have caused China and Russia to remove most of the troops from their perspective borders and instead form an alternate pole, known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization {An alternative to NATO} and engage in joint military exercises. http://www.sectsco.org/home.asp?LanguageID=2 - R
