mnottertail: Howard K. Stern was Anna Nicole Smith's "manager" (and I use the term loosely, since when your only client dies of a drug over-dose, it is my opinion that something, somewhere along the line, has gone "amiss" as far as things being "managed" very well).
Howard K. Stern never really practiced law (except for Anna Nicole-Smith, and seeing to her contractual arrangements, etc), although he did pass the bar exam, and is a "real" lawyer.
Howard K. Smith claimed he was this baby's real father, despite the fact most people close to them seem to think that he and Ms. Smith were not "romantically involved" - although here too, I wonder why that would seem to be the judgment leap some would make, since they did live in the same house, and Ms. Smith appeared, unfortunately, to be zoned out on drugs a lot of the time, and he could very well have slept with her, but - maybe she really did love him in a romantic sense (who knows?)
This baby possibly stands to inherit over a hundred million dollars from her dead mother's estate. Her mother, Ms. Smith, was married, in her twenties, to a man who was over 60 years her senior, who was almost a billionaire.
When Ms. Smth's elderly husband died, 14 months after their wedding, this man's children from his first marriage dragged Ms. Smith into court, as both they, and Ms. Smith, were claiming a substantial inheritance from the dead man's estate (his name was Howard Marshall, and he was a Texas billionaire, or darn close to a billionaire).
One court said Ms. Smith court inherit a good part of the money. Another court in a different state, decided she could not (she was not formally named in his will, but she claimed he told her he'd provide for her and her son Daniel, and leave her part of his estate when he died). The final outcome of the inheritance, as far as who gets it, is still undetermined, overall.
Meanwhile, not only has the man who earned all of this estate's money himself died, but so has Anna Nicole-Smith, her son, plus the man from this man's first marriage, who fought with Ms. Smith her over this possible inheritance. Anyway...
This past Summer Ms. Smith's only son died of a drug over-dose (which some think was anything but tragically unintentional, since the son was possibly in line for any of this inheritance as well, and some think it was a very suspicious death. Ditto for Ms. Smith's death, although IMO, it is impossible, really for anyone to tell for sure if either death was, or not, a complete "accident".
Just before she died, Ms. Smith had a baby daughter, and nobody knew (until today) who that baby's real father was - although more than 3 people claimed to be the "real father".
The common link in these 2 deaths (Ms. Smith and her son, Daniel) is Howard K. Stern being in the room when they happened. But, IMO, that doesn't necessarily mean he killed them, or "helped them to die". Maybe. Maybe not. I doubt anyone besides Howrad K. Stern may ever know for sure.
Anyway - good for Howard K. Stern. I did not expect that from him, for hi to just give up custody of this baby. Perhaps he realizes his reputation has probably taken a hit, since both Anna Nicole-Smith, and her son Daniel, died suddenly under rather "mysterious" circumstances that were much the same, and Howard was in the room with them both when they did die.
Re: The heritage of the "Prince". You got that right, IMO. hehe.
Howard K. Smith had claimed for weeks, to be this baby's "real" father (why did he even bother? Like he didn't think there would be a paternity test?). I'd hope they let the grandma,Vergie, at least see and visit the baby. She is the baby's grandmother, and she is probably still grief-stricken, since her own daughter just died 2 months ago.
*I guess I know too much about this stuff, too. It's been hard to escape on the news channels for the past 2 months.
