I took my matress protector off, I was prepaired to wash it and I found the bottom of it is shredded all to pieces. It's about 4 months old and it was supposed to be high end, and they put the chicken shit shittiest bottom on it, it's that papery thin stuff you'd expect to find on cheap hospital beds. Anyway it's all torn up and I can't save it. I thought for a moment I could sew the ripped parts, but the batting itself has also torn up, and the bottom is to papery and thin to sew. I'll have to buy a new one but I don't have the spare cash for it right now, and anyway who's to say you buy a new one it's gorgious it's nice and in 4 months the same thing has happend.

Buy a hangmat. A friend of mine has slept for fifty years on a south american hangmat. When he had cancer he refused to use a bed in the hospital, but put up his own hangmat. (Later he returned to Brasilia to die, but once there he miraculously recovered from the cancer.)

When you sleep in a hangmat you do not need a mattress, and hence not a mattress protector either.

A cheap hangmat can be gotten for 44 euros. A more expensive one may be twice that price.

Is a hang mat the same as a hammock? I would rather sleep with my mate than sleep on a hammock.

I never did like hammocks a friend of mine had one and they were awful.

I love hammocks outside in the open air on a balmy day... just would not like sleeping in one every night

Yes. If you google wikipedia and hammock, you will see the wrong kind of hammocks and the wrong way to sleep in them. (This proves that some entries in wikipedia have been composed by fools.)

A proper hammock does not have sticks at the ends. A proper hammock is an indian hammock consisting of rope only. One should not lie in it like in a bed, but at an angle of 45 degrees to both ends. The hammock then stretches out into a flat surface that is as large as a two person bed. So one sleeps in it in a horizontal position. All parts of the body are supported, unlike when sleeping on a mattress. Thus the hammock is vastly superior to a mattress - especially for curvy persons.
