Does anyone here ever listen to the Art Bell radio show? It is about the paranormal. Now it is called Coast to Coast AM with George Noory.

It is on at 1AM EST-my local radio station here doesn't come in at night(AM radio). Some sort of weird interference ever since I've lived here. I had XM radio but dumped it. So I haven't listened in awhile.

I used to, but now I can talk to tin foil wearing kooks on line, which is way more fun.

I listened to the whole show every night, back when I was working graveyard.  Never believed a word of it, but Art would always give you something to think about besides the white lines on the road.

I've caught bits of the Noory version here and there but it seemed to be the same old stuff.  Art would do politics too, back before Oklahoma City and that used to get wild.

oh yes!!  Art Bell kept me company many a night when i used to work the graveyard shift. the idea of "remote viewing" was fascinating. Art used to get all kind of threats from people for his show and his ideas. his wife died and i think he remarried. i've listened to George Noory but he never quite caught me like Art. hmmmm, i need to get a radio in this office.

I too enjoyed his show while I worked graveyard, George Noory is the best of the replacement Art's, but he's not as good as Art was at calling bullshit, without saying bullshit.

Believe it? no, enjoy it? yes.

General input:
Art Bell, .....I listened to him, once in awhile, for a laugh, but some was hard to take even for a laugh; like the guest he had, who claimed spinning pinwheels was actually  outer space beings comunicating with us. He became the topic of conversation in Nevada, after he won a bunch of broadcasting awards, and was one of the top rated shows around. The scandal that followed was very interesting; I suspect he may have wanted a bigger piece of the pie; argueing for more compensation scine he took so many awards, and threats of quitting agitating his network to threaten breech of contract. That real life drama was much more interesting than the 'PinWheels' he had on his show.

I remember his last show, where he said he was under attack by the government or extra terrestials, or something, for saying the things he said, revealing on air certain no-no's; and he could barely see, in the night, black shadowy figures coming over his fence, but he would stay on the air, until.........then the static buzzz.

He was very dramatic with this, he was off the air, in the news in Las Vegas, front page, Art Bell disappears, has he been abducted??? sort of stuff; then his bosses threaten sueing for breech of contract, then he is back on the air, a bit more subdued, and then gone.

The best of his show was one of his sponsors....Cusco......really nice music.

At the end of Tool's CD, Lateralus is a very strange bit of audio that was a real call to his show.  A frightened sounding man, claiming to be on the run from Area 51, talking about aliens and natural disasters and then the radio went dead as the satellite that transmitted the signal from his studio went offline.

One of my favorite bits he did was his annual Halloween show, "Ghost-to-Ghost AM," where he took open line calls of ghost stories all night long.  Some bad, some good, and a rare few that would just give you chills.

I don't know anything about a last show with people climbing his walls, but his first "retirement' was due to a really horrendous situation with his family, that he DIDN'T go into on the air until well after the fact.

Hello; I had a friend that lived for Art Bell; he introduced the show to me, and I found it entertaining, like reading a sci-fi comic book, or one of the tabloid news stand periodicals, only now, on the radio and interactive. Some of his quests were really interesting, like The Area 51 shows. When the movie 'Men In Black' came out, he did a 'bit', taking calls, some were so funny, each caller, revealed certain secret societies, of course 'In Black'; like: 'Women In Black' (my favorite); cats in black, dogs in black, all sorts of idiot 'In Black' stuff;..... pure mockery. My friend, however hinged on every word, passionately believed it all. He went so far to tell me; "have you noticed how difficult getting the plastic wrap opened on packages, used to be, the plastic just fell open, but now you need a knife to cut it, can't just tear it open anymore. Aliens have brought the new plastic wrap to earth." .......I kid you not.

I learned alot about people, with this Art Bell era. At his last show, I was talking with another fellow, and he most passionately believed the government stopped Art Bell's broadcast. When I remarked that no body but Art Bell ceased the broadcast, because he was going on strike, for more money, due to the awards and rateings he had. Boy, did this guy go through the ceiling, yelling, screaming, I was wrong, I was all manner of stupidity, and citeing all the government secrets Bell revealed on his show. WOW, I was almost in fear of being physically attacked; true.

So, I said; "hold on, let me understand this; we do not know the real reason for the sudden shut down, we do know, his network executives are threatening 'breech of contract ' suit. So, speculating it may be just an Art Bell drama, to solicit calls, to prove he indeed had a following; this being a labor dispute, contract dispute, is out of the question. Whatever the reason, we are not privy to; because YOU think he was silenced by the government, makes it so, no other explanation can be explored." he actually pounded the wall with his fist, (hard), over and over...."YES, YES".  I kid you not.

Art Bell had his loyal, believing audience, that is for sure. The only good thing I got out of the show, was the Cusco CD's.

People who are up all night, all the time, tend be odd to begin with.  Whether working graveyard has that effect or if people who are already odd are drawn to that schedule would be a whole other conversation.

I encountered very few who bought into all of it, but many who were devout to certain subject/s.  My cousin drove long-haul flatbeds for many years and would go on and on about how the Moon Landing was a fraud.  He was laid over at my house for a weekend one time and wouldn't shut up about how the astronauts life-support pack was wider than the hatch on the lander, so how could they have gotten out.  I finally put him in the car and we drove out to a park in the desert where a plywood mock-up of the lander has been placed on display.  The astronauts used it for training and the places where they put their feet when exiting are clearly worn into the paint.  He looked at it for a minute and said, "Oh.  They came out at an angle."

Sci-fi, comic book is a good description.  Dammit though, it was an entertaining one.

Two things about the show that impressed me.

1. His was one of the first to make use of and integrate
the internet into talk radio.  He was telling callers to go
to his web page and linking to guest webpages and
putting up information about upcoming guests long before
most others were doing it.  Very smart of him.

2. He mixes unsupported wachos and guests with very
impressive credentials night after night.  He will have
someone like Dr. Michio Kaku on one night and then
some off the wall nut case the next and treat them all
the same.  Being very respectful to all and often not
endorsing things he listens too most respecfully.

As entertainment he puts on a good show.

Hey, BountyHunter, I've been asleep during those hours. I used to have the Streamlink deal from the website, but I had to cut back on some things. I never hear the show anymore. Has anything cool been on?

I used to listen to the show a lot more often than I do now. I actually think it’s much too mild....I'd like to see the politicians and our crapy government demagogued and kicked in the crack of their ass a lot more. But I realize its corporate America who controls the direction of the show  ; }

They have political shows all day, it is good to hear something different. Art Bell is the mother of all eco-freaks when he hosts the show on weekends. So if you enjoy Eco/Green stuff, that is political. I'm surprised Art didn't make Al Gore the co-host on the weekend.

really really simple, Bell has what is commonly refered to as the "Bully Pulpit" he has a nationally and internationally broadcasted radio show; he could build a grassroots org that could force the governments hand and expose the 100% truth. BUT he makes more money by letting the government keep the truth hidden.
