I dunno, I know I often get accused of the whole feline thing, which is one of my biggest pet peeves.  Kat is simply my name.  For the record, I am not particularly fond of cats and I am most definitely a dog person.

My Master's name for me is Kitten.  Between us we own 3 cats and Master has always compared me to a cat.  I am feline in nature.  When with my own submissives I am often aloof, spending my time relaxing on the bed grooming (doing my nails, hair, makeup etc) while my submissive sees to my needs.  When with the Master I am affectionate, content to lay beside him and nap until he needs my attention.  I stretch, purr and even kneed at his leg when happy.  I don't have kitten in my on-line name but its definately in my personality.   We have just collared a very pretty Kitty last week as a matter of fact.  And her nick was Kitty before we found her.  She is also very much the affectionate pet type.  I'm actually seriously concidering pet training and giving her a kitty oriented name.   So I think that the kitten thing has enjoyable aspects for me on either side of the coin.  BDSM I think wasn't what gave me the personality of a cat, its just what coaxed it out to play.

i chose my profile name because i didnt want there to be any misunderstandings.
i am a sub/slave, but i am NOT a kitten, i will eat a kitten..... hell, i will eat a pitt-bull. nor can i be placed in a field and fed grass. just beacuse i have stripes doesnt mean i am a zebra. if i am fed nothing but grass, it will not turn me into a zebra, it will turn me into a dead tiger.
i identify with a tiger because they like to spend a lot of their time alone (i enjoy private contemplation and reading), they are graceful ( i have spent most of my life dancing), protective (my family and my tribe are the world to me and if i feel they are threatened i will lead the battle), territorial (my space is my space and when i am owned, my space will be His space and His space will be mine to protect). but to be honest, they can also turn on Y/you if they feel they being neglected or mistreated ( need i say more?). they WILL give warning  by a low growl before they attack(i will ask to voice my concerns), but are also known for ambushing from behind (if my attempts to communicate are rejected or ignored, i WILL get my point across). they can be very loving when handled in the correct manner ( i am a sensual sensationist, the right touch on my cheek can give me more chills than any overt sexual touch ) are loyal to those they respect and will kill to protect them.
if One knows how to handle a tiger they can make wonderful pets and protectors. if One does not, they can make delicious tiger treats.

25 years ago a stranger was a good friend when he told Me that I was not fulfilling the full potential he thought I had. He said that I was obviously a cat & that I should darn well start acting like one. I am rather aloof. Though I'm dominant, I'll never be the leader of a pack; I am solitary. Too many people in a room DO make Me feel like a longtailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I am picky.
Does this have anything to do with being Domme? No clue. I only know that I am Lady Cat.

For this girl it has always been more of personality than sexual intent..Though my name did not come of my own mind..it was an ex that coined this one's now used name. It has served this one well and though I do enjoy cats and the like..I feel it is more of a coincidence in this case. *smiles*

The Norse/Germanic Goddess Freyja was associated with cats - though maybe not cats as we would know them. Freyja is the Goddess of sexuality and particularly female sexuality in all its forms, as well as a form of magic called seidhr (seething) which would generally fall into the shamanistic category and may well have depended on the control of sexual energies. There is also the association, maybe from the same original Goddess source, of witches with cats - not the Church inspired vision of witches, but the idea of a wise and powerful woman who has and uses special knowledge.

Winston Churchill was quoted as saying that personally he liked pigs. Why? Because cats look down on us, dogs look up to us, but pigs just regard us as equals.
 
Yeah I'm a cat person. Got two feline Dommes who rule my life....... not the best substitute for a Dom, but they do in the meantime [:)]

I have a cat and a dog, but I think cats are a lot more like people, and thus are considered more "relatable."  My friends have called me kitten since I was young, and it has always been a name I relished.  On CM I chose not to have an sn with the world kitten in it simply because that was so very common (but then I got bored and oops--common sn for me!).

Dont let emeraldeyes fool you, she is every bit a cat as the fluffy ones.  Except for graceful, she doesn't do stairs as well as most cats.
