And what if it's learned ten years from now that these vaccines cause a host of other medical issues? I'm with Katy...not enough research on the effects yet for me to be comfortable with giving them to my ums.
EXACTLY.

Is it just me or do I just find it disturbing people are more worried about shooting their children full of drugs, rather than discussing sexual awareness with them?
And yes, sure - you cannot help if the person is raped or their partner infects them under pretence, but saying thats a reason to make such injections mandatory is like saying children should be made to stay in 24/7 in case they are run over, or eat McDonalds or something equally as sinister.

Exactly dark!
As i said, that man that may rape her just might kill her so better just keep her inside.

I think the HPV vaccine and any future vaccines that protect against STD's should be mandatory in all states. I understand that the idea of abstinence is important to many Christian parents, however; teaching children abstinence before adulthood and/or marriage does not offer adequate protection against HPV or other sexually transmitted diseases. The fact is, abstinence offers no protection against nonconsentual rape or infidelity. I'm interested in hearing the opinions of others on this issue.
Vaccines expose you to the disease. There is a chance of catching the disease from the vaccine. Vaccine's also may make stronger strands of the orginal disease.

I think I would insist on the vaccine whether my child wanted it or not. Statistics show that infedelity occurs at some point in 80% of all marriages. Statistics show that 75% of the population is infected with HPV at some point in their lives.
Defiant, I hate to be a bitch but what studies are we going of off? Can you link us please?

Just a note: The only vaccines currently required by law are those to prevent diseases that can be easily spread by casual contact, like two children playing in an entirely childlike manner.
Now if you want to get your kid vaccinated - fine. I probably will too. However, that doesn't mean I get to tell anybody else what to do with their kids. As long as you are being a parent making sure your kids aren't humping at age 8, then you can talk to them when they get older and let them make the choice.
Defiant you brought up rape. I've been sexually molested. I could have gotten something. I got lucky but I wouldn't blame my mother for not getting me some stupid shot. That's like blaming her for encouraging me to go to the college where I was molested. Everyone does what they think they have to do for their own reasons.
