Yeah, that's what struck me... The whole.. 'Oh, well, someone grabbed the wrong brownies...' attitude...

Even the cops were giggling about the whole mess.

Actually the story isnt funny, its sickening. One student poisons other students and a teacher. While the police cant take it seriously. Just sad.

FukinTroll -> RE: Funniest Story Ever. (3/22/2007 8:16:14 PM)

Had it been my Ums they would have died. I am allergic and they are deathly allergic.

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Funniest Story Ever. (3/22/2007 9:02:49 PM)

Actually I didn't think it was funny.

I'm curious, how do they test for that allergy?

Skin testing like other types of substances. You lie down and they poke a small bit of various known allergens in a pattern on your back.

farglebargle -> RE: Funniest Story Ever. (3/22/2007 10:02:00 PM)

Yeah, I know how skin-tests work for grass pollen. I guess pollen is pollen.

How do they test for ingested thc, I guess would be the question. Brownies wouldn't have any pollen.

I would think that ingesting it would be worse. Its like a peanut allergy, you just hope the first exposure is small and that if in a UM you catch it quick with some benedryl, before it gets out of hand.

People usualy need an epi pen when their exposed to something their allergic to like penut butter or bee's

Epi and benedryl,, the epi just speeds up the heart ( when they give it to you in a hospital they hook you up to a heart monitor, makes you more nervous about whats going on lol )  it gets the benedryl in your system faster. The benedryl calms the response of you immune system.
If you dont have an epi pen some carbonated soda helps speed up the benedryl ( if its a capsule break it open ) and wash it down. Its a bitter taste but better than the ER trip.

I see no, ZERO, academic papers about ingested allergies, and perhaps only one or two about pollen.

Are you saying that there are no ingested allergies?
http://www.acaai.org/public/advice/foods.htm
There are a lot of people allergic to peanuts, shellfish etc..

farglebargle -> RE: Funniest Story Ever. (3/23/2007 7:51:47 AM)

No, No.. . No allergies to ingested hemp is what I'm not seeing in a casual survey of the literature.

Some studies of hemp pollen ( apparently tied to studies of tobacco... ) but nothing about eating...

I dont think that its a common test, youd probably have to request it. But nicotene is a common one and it is present in hemp.

I'm having trouble locating a decent breakdown of the components. You'd figure someone would have run this shit through the lab???
