Doug and I love oatmeal and its benefits.  So, we eat it as often as possible.  Often adding fruits, etc for variety.
Although we also know instant and even regular has little benefits to it.

So, a few week's back we decided to transfer over the the steel cut variety.  After moving to the middle of nowhere when it comes to food.  The only place we have found it so far is at the health food store in the bulk oatmeal vats.

Now, you don't get recipes on the vats of bulk oatmeal.  I've looked at recipes and some people soak it overnight.  Some just cook it.
So, does anyone have any recipes for steel cut they can offer up?
It would be much appreciated.

Thanks that recipe is for almost an hour cook time.  Not bad considering I guess.
It is much better than the overnight method.

I eat steel cut oatmeal at least twice a week. I usually buy it at Trader Joes but also find it in the health food section of a lot of grocery stores now.

I microwave (in a huge bowl because it bubbles up a lot) 1/2C with 1 1/4C water for 4 minutes then add things like ground flax seeds, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla flavoring (or a vanilla flavored splenda packet) and berries or banana or both.

Some people on my South Beach message board will cook it overnite in a crock pot.
