NoVacancy -> Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 4:16:18 PM)

In the last few days, every time I sign off of collarme, I am asked to fill out my name and my birthdate (under penalty of perjury).  I am rather disturbed that I am being asked this information.  I have not been filling it out because I am not sure what it is about and if it is legit?  Has anybody else run across this and do you know what this is about?

It must be for the Birthday Raffle.
Free enemas for a month!

I never 'sign off' CM, I just go away.  Close the box, whatever.

The only place I know of on the web that asks for a name and a year of birth is a bondage website.  I'm imagining that it is some sort of 'proof' that I am of legal age.

Nothing untoward has become of it, nor would I hope it would.

I'm guessing CM is trying to ensure some sort of legality with internet laws.  Just a guess, though.

It was just added. It's mostly as a deterrent to underage minors; a means of trying to make them think twice before entering the site.

I think its a wonderful idea.

Yeah sure..BH

domiguy -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 4:47:49 PM)

Well I filled it out...And Boy oh Boy! Was I surprised!....I have a birthday coming up and I just received an email from CM that I have a free party for up to 15 people at Chucky Cheese!  Thank you CM!

I'm pretty sure only the most naive and easily-frightened of young people will fall for the ploy. I haven't seen any free site yet that's come up with a real way to keep minors out. Best way I've seen is to ask for a credit card,(and even that isn't fool-proof) but we certainly don't want any of that around here, now do we?

Actually, here's a thought...card us...most ppl have driver's licenses or state id's...why not ask for the number to verify the person's age when creating a profile?

Or is that too crazy a thought?

That's a crazy thought.

Two Words: IDENTITY THEFT.

Don't tell Nobody, Nothing.

Today I signed in as Jane Doe.  Tomorrow, who knows who I'll be.
The world is my oyster.

I know....I am definitely going to start subtracting years off my date of birth next time.

sub4hire -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 6:35:43 PM)

I don't sign off so I haven't seen it yet.  I just close the window.  Apparently it is some sort of fail safe for collarme.
Everybody pretty much knows already minors will merely put in something bogus...so, what in reality does it
accomplish?

gooddogbenji -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 6:40:20 PM)

Legality, due diligence, something like that.

If I had to start giving out legit information, such as a driver's license number, I would flee faster than a Frenchman from a bath.

Then again, the last time I actually closed my CM window was back in the pre-internet 80's.

Yours,

benji

spanxalot15 -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 6:53:57 PM)

Heh heh heh...pretty funny that they do the verification at the sign out rather than the sign in.  Now any folks who shouldn't have been here already have...

Hmmm...maybe for Disney...pay to get out of the Magic Kingdom after you've ridden Space Mountain endlessly...

Hmm...maybe I will sign off as Marilyn Monroe or better yet, Betty Page!

Well, just a word of advice...After a week it would be nice if you "removed' the world from your pants....You're getting a tad bit ripe.

sub4hire -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 7:02:56 PM)

It would be humorous if you signed off now and put in a birthday.  Sign off the next time with other info and you are banned from the site for lying?

justlookingbbw -> RE: Signing off Name and DOB (3/18/2007 7:06:30 PM)

I seen that page and noticed that the year part goes down to 1999, I wonder if you could put 1999 and still get in?
