I have been putting in some long hours on a project and now some new stuff came up that is going to keep me away for a while. A friend of mine just lost his cousin to suicide. He is having a ruff time with it and is taking himself through the wringer on the what if's. He was speaking with him at a club last night and advised him to go home and sleep off the booze. He went home and stuck a shotgun in his mouth. His cousin left behind 3 ums and an ex, please send your thoughts and prayers out to them.

FT, Please take care of yourself. I have grown very fond of your approach and your words (yeah, I am a lurker.) You are a very sensitive creature, be careful what you expose yourself to. Take care of the needs of others, but remember that we can not be for others, if we do not take care of ourselves. best! ...song...

Ouch. That's a great big kick in the balls for your friend. My thoughts go out to him. Those "what ifs" will tear you up. It was a co-worker who dropped a big load of them on me many years ago, I can only imagine how much worse it would be with a family member. We can't hold ourselves responsible for the decisions of others, no matter how irrational or permanent those decisions might be. Suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness. It's a great cruelty to the family and loved ones. Your friend is a victim, he bears no blame. And it's perfectly ok to hate the person who did it.

Suicide .... I often wondered if it was my fault. Wondered what could have been for them. All I can say is carry on and move along. Pain is like a rot that turns all fruit black. All drop from the vine if you don't just tear away the dead branches. Better to remember the good time. Look up to the sky and smile warmly. Then give them something to smile back about as you live on happily as can be. Letting them know its going to be ok. Just never dwell on it for to long. Sorry ,bad memories.

I'll miss your post as well, good luck! it's very difficult to go through something like this, there will be a lot of self blame. It will just have to talked out, the feelings acknowledged. The survivors are the ones who suffer in a suicide. Just being there listening will be a big help. take care!

i will miss your posts :-( but i have been here way more than i should and probably need to break free for a while myself and attend to life... i will send positive energy and thoughts in their direction. i know too well and very personally what the family is feeling - infact just acknowledged the 2 year aniversary of my own loss this very month only days ago... be well
