EmeraldSlave2 -> Happy St. Patrick's Day! (3/16/2007 8:42:47 AM)

I know, it's tomorrow.  But I'm totally getting excited already and wanted to hit up first (on my old name which few of you likely remember at this point).

Considering the only considerable chunk of heritage I have is Irish, and that I lived in Ireland for awhile, it tends to be something I get excited over.  Not to mention the fact that my favorite color is green.

Usually I agonize over putting together the perfect St. Patrick's Day outfit, but this year I said screw it and am just going with one of my bright green dresses and piling on all my accessories- from my shamrock socks to my green velvet choker to my claddagh circlet.

Enjoy, drink & play responsibly!

To celebrate- i got some shamrock pastries. i actually have a small % of Irish in me.

one year- per 4th of July in the 5th grade. my gf told the whole neighborhood that to celebrate, i colored my penis red white and blue. at the time the ridicule was very serious. today i look at it as comical, LOL

Happy St. Pat's to you, too, ES2 aka LA!!!

It has always been one of this slave's favorite holidays as well, and will be carrying on the tradition passed down by Dad of wearing Orange and NOT green!!!

"Éireann go Brách"-less!!!

beth's heritage comes from the Orange side of the battle lines. Going back further it would be the 'Cruithin' tribes of the D`al nAraide and the Ui Eachach Coba. Akin to the Cruithni of Scotland equated with the ancient Pretani, or Picts.

To anyone in the neighborhood:

Come all ye Sons & Daughters of of the clan, and those that wish they were, and join us at Hennessey's in Redondo Beach. We plan on trying to get there around 11:30. Even on that day, beth's easy to identify, shes one of the few natural redheads.

happypervert -> Pogue mahone! (3/16/2007 12:42:27 PM)

I'm in the holiday spirit too, so I put my favorite gaelic "greeting" in the subject line for y'all.

agincourt -> RE: Pogue mahone! (3/16/2007 12:52:05 PM)

not so sure Pogue mahone is a greeting,ha, well maybe in some circles.. but yeah it is a fun phrase.[;)] St. Paddy's has to be my favorite Holiday, always have a big Irish bash.

Irish Drinking Toasts (have fun with these)

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Here's to me, and here's to you,
And here's to love and laughter-
I'll be true as long as you,
And not one moment after.

Here's to you and yours
And to mine and ours.
And if mine and ours
Ever come across to you and yours,
I hope you and yours will do
As much for mine and ours
As mine and ours have done
For you and yours!

Health and life to you;
The mate of your choice to you;
Land without rent to you,
And death in Eirinn.

Here's a toast to your enemies' enemies!

When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold beer—and another one!

Here's to our wives and girlfriends:
May they never meet!

I know what it means!
I wonder how many Kennedy's will be arrested this weekend?

in the 5th grade, Mrs Gallager taught us to sing silent night in Irish. we were then to perform it.

lets see- it went... "e ha re oo-in" "e ha re oo-in"

i cant recall the rest.

Thanks Agincourt :)  Aileen I only hope you enjoy the freedom as much this year as you did then.

There once was a leprechaun green
Who thought he was witty and keen
His hat was so tall
And his buckle quite small
He was funny and shockingly lean

I think that reading the CM forums is clouding my perceptions,
read that as "I got some shamrock pasties"!   [:D]
