(Sorry for the tease lead in but...I really do need some help). I want to build a totally awesome, killer, beyond known experience computer....for my house. Now, to assist those that want to help me....I have a really big house. I'd like to build a computer that I can do anything I'd want to do (I occasionally work from home...and a lot of what I do has to do with images/graphics...and I'd like to be able to do some video stuff....build some corporate videos and such....without, during the process...having the thing strangle itself). Currently I have 56k dial up (don't assume that my current available ISP is a function of my ability....I've been trying to get broadband up here for years)....6 gigs down, 784k down will be on my doorstep within 90 days (they assure me). Any thoughts? Here's what I have so far; 4 gigs ram 2 Hard drives....each 750 Gigs. 10,000 rpms. Vista (Top end) Microsoft Office (Top end) Top end video card 1000 watt or better power supply Backup power supply (equal power) Cooling as needed (prefer not to be water...if required, acceptable) 6 USB minimum TV in and out NIC Wireless Battery backup to accomodate appropriate cooling and power down Chip: At least 2 chips, dual core...more if Vista and my applications can use (consider video needs...see Jon), preference: AMD....Intel if advantage is significant....64, regardless of brand Whatever the latest and greatest is for sound (ability to push the music out), that, plus the next if available (see power supply)
