Road Rage Rant - 3/14/2007 9:47:52 AM

As I was driving my son to school this morning...I saw a man not let this mini-van with a family get over so they could exit the freeway....now previously the mini-van had cut off the other driver....but this was a van with children inside....and the van almost hit another car trying to get over....
this reminded me of a few months back when a truck almost ran my son and I off the freeway because I had no room to let him in...he literally came up to my Jeep with less than a foot separating us...I had to go into the shoulder and slam on my brakes....
road rage is so rampant here in Vegas.....I wonder though if people actually realize that a human life is at stake....the man who tried to run me off the freeway...I am sure he wouldn't intentionlly try to kill my son or me...but when he got so close and forced me to slam on my brakes....he literally could have killed us....and the same with the van this morning....could that driver had lived his life knowing he killed a family of 4...

accidents and tix are factored into the cost of doing business. i was involved in a wreck. of course neither of us think it was our fault.

I surved 2 dances with semi tractor trailors.

today i fricken paid my ticket. it is done. thankfully i can walk. each moment of life is a blessing.

word of advice- dotn engage the other driver- it is unwise. i gave the finger a few times....and we can say lucky me.....

I think driving should be a cooperative effort not competitive.  I always let people in no matter how much of an idiot i think they are.

Hubby on the other hand blares his horn at anyone He thinks did something wrong.  I just hope it doesn't get us shot someday. I only use my horn if i think i might get hit.

Yes, it is both infuriating and frightening when people drive like this,
Eruditegirl.  Many people get in a vehicle and feel like they do own
the whole damn road and that they are invincible.  And it is best
to not respond in anger to these situations.  I keep a small memo
pad and pen in the glove comparment and have called in problem
drivers to the Cal Highway Patrol before, after taking down their
liscense and make of vehicle.

Can you leave the house earlier to avoid some of the congestion?

Stay safe,

Vendaval

it was my lucky day. my leg was bruised. it looked like an aids blotch. yikes.

a few years later i happened to pass that same point on i80, ok, now 3 lanes. i was in the far left lane.  a car had just spun out and knocked light post onto the 2 right lanes. what are the chances of that???

It was quite eiry.

BTW- the car was a 1980 chevy citation

I live in Vegas....no matter what time of the day...it's always bad traffic....in fact in the almost 3 years I have been here there has been contionous widening of the 95 and 15 feeways....it can at times take me 15 minutes to go 2 miles.....it's absolute nuts....

i remember just getting my license and a couple of weeks later, some guy cut me off and purposely slowed down in-front of me. So i overtook him despite his effort to stop me. This displeased him so he barged his way through traffic and stopped his car in-front of mine in the middle of the highway and he and one of his mates got out and walked over to my car...i just thought, "f*** this", floored it and almost ran him over. The hoon chases me for a good 5mins and we stop in a suburb area where only his friend gets out this time and wraps some cloth around his fist (to punch my window). Again, i revved my engine, floored it again and almost ran him over...i could tell he shat himself...but that didn't stop him from coming at me again. i tried exiting from a slip lane which had a large truck in-front of me...the hoon caught up and punched my window 4 times. He failed which i find amazing because this guy was hugeee...and he couldn't break my window. i guess he had too much cloth around his hand. Anyway, he finally gave up and he and his mate drove off.
Probably one of the scariest things i'd experienced. There was no way i was going to get out and fight him because he was much bigger and stronger than me, he had a big dog in his car and i was out numbered...hell...i didn't even have a car wheel lock to smack him with. But it turned out ok in the end - no one got hurt and nothing was damaged...no need to report to the police lol.

So yes, i share your hate for road rage drivers and hoons. If i was allowed, i would personally get a chainsaw and remove the accelerator and steering wheel from their car and then just for fun, kick a butt plug in their ass =P

Same thing happened to me in Las Vegas, very same thing.

Road Rage !  If you survive driving in Romania, Bucaresti, and Turkey, then you have no fear of Road Rage; there, they drive in a constant condition of Road Rage, it's normal for them.

I used to get angry when I was cut off, etc.  One day I went "what the #@$& is my hurry?

Now I just drive along, screaming punk songs at the top of my lungs, and let other people do whatever they want to do.

Just me, etc.

Sinergy

p.s. On an unrelated note, some TSA guy just shot Kenny for trying to take a toenail clipper on an airplane.

I've driven all over the country and Germany......I've never feared for my life more than when driving in the US.......Road Rage here in Phoenix is huge......people are shot and injured and killed over the stupidest thing.  I can't believe that people are in such a hurry.....me, I'm with Synergy....there's no hurry to any of my trips.....I set the cruise control, stay in the slow lane, and let all the idiots pass me by.  I let people in, and out.  It doesn't cost me anything to be polite, and these days, when just looking at someone can get you shot, it's the safest thing to do.

As for reporting the drivers for road rage, it's great to call it in, but the chances of the cops actually catching someone is about a million to one.  Then you have to be willing to sign a complaint, as unless or until the officers sees someone do it, he can't make an arrest.  And trust me, there are far more important crimes out there to catch someone at than road rage.

At least here in the valley, the city of Scottsdale seems to have found a way to at least slow people d own....there's a stretch of freeway they call "Death Alley", and the city mounted cameras to nail speeders.  They've caught, and prosecuted, drivers going as fast as 147 miles per hour.  The guy rented a car, drove thru ALL of the cameras...it's a seperate charge per camera.....got jail time for it!  He thought that he'd get away with it since the car wasn't registered to him.  Gotta love it!  It worked so well, the cameras are back up and in operation.......the city is making a fortune, but there are still idiots out there that hightail it thru there......

OK, I'm done rambling again......boredom is such an ugly thing!

When I am in Las Vegas I always take my bicycle with me.  Once I get to my hotel I take my bike out and no matter where I am going it is always faster on the bike, and no problems with parking.  I can make it from Fremont street to Flamingo in about ten to fifteen minutes. I can even beat the monorail from end to end.

I thnk the first guy to go to jail over road rage was a deacon in New England.   (learned it at the National Safety Council).   He had just left church and somebody cut him off so he caught up to them and took a tire iron to  them.   Needless to say they didn't fare to well.

Upon my visits to Vegas, I have noticed that. Now if we could stop the maniacs that come to Florida.
