A man, 43, decided to settle his imminent divorce by using a chainsaw to split a family home in two. Police in the eastern town of Sonneberg said yesterday that the trained mason measured the single-story summer house - which was about  eight metres long and six metres wide (26ft by 20ft) - before sawing through the wooden roof and walls. "The man said he was just taking his due," said a police spokesman. "But I don't think his wife was too pleased." After finishing the job, the man picked up his half using a forklift truck and drove to his brother's house, where he has been staying.

The police spokesman deserves some credit for "the wife will not be too pleased". Understatement of the century, she'll be going apeshit.

A very industrious people. The English work longer hours, but the Germans are more productive. There'll be a bloke with a 'tache, a mullet and an ill-fitting pair of jeans, with half a house on his back, wandering 'round Leipzig at this very moment. The Germans are real attention to detail people, whereas we're dreamers. Did you know the Germans invented the historical footnote? and that they considered us heathens because of our love of sport? All very interesting, I'm sure :-)

Check out The War of the Roses, for a film about a couple who
divides the house in half and the misery they dish out to each other.
The stars are Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, the director is

I think I've seen that film.....rings a bell. What's he going to do when they get back together? Stitch the house back together?

go down in divorces, nothing people do surprises me anymore. 
 
And if you laugh at the really awful situations in life, that
does take some of the sting out of the wound.
