microdermals

heard of them? there is only one woman i know of in MA doing it, but i am very interested.

i am not a fan of flesh piercing, but this is more attractive looking to me. seeing as how Master wont let me get a brand, this may serve as an alternative

the possible impracticality of this bugs me. i'm already running into issues over cat scans, mris, and ekgs due to having my nipples and hood pierced...are microderms easily removable? if so, i would say it's a good idea, but if not, that issue would trump the fact that it's actually a really attractive idea to me.

it really depends on what is being scanned

i had a MRI on my head with an eyebrow ring in [it was a fresh piercing] and i couldnt take it out. we put gauze around it and did not interfere with results at all. i think the "cant be done with them in" thing is over rated.

oh and i would assume, the male piece of the microdermal is not easily removed as a pocket is streched under your skin to insert the anchor. i just asked a friend who is getting one, and she confirms, it must be removed by the piercer.

i agree that it depends on what is being scanned. still, i'd worry...never expected to need an ekg, then i get my nipples pierced and of course i need one (it worked okay, but there was a bit of a scare about it because the metal can cause problems with the machine). i also agree that this danger over piercings is often very hyped up. still, with an actual skin "implant" so to speak i would worry more about this than with a healed flesh piercing. but they are very, very cool looking :D

well it is still a VERY new procedure [7 months] but it only has a 2% infection rate [very very very low]

as someone who needs spiral CT scans every 5 years for the rest of my life though, i see where you are coming from.

i want to get some in my tattoo [which IS possible]

i wonder if there are metals that affect the machines less than others?

I will fall on the side of intolerance.........

If you got metal sticking out you, it is gonna get ripped off, 'cause of the ruckus in a rut.

I can live without tatoos, but whatever.

I don't like a lot of ink or piercing on mine.A small broken arrow tat on the back above the butt crack and ownership brand on the theigh...I have seen many with 30 or 40 piercing and ink every where,I find this very distasteful but of course as always just this ol" master opinion and subject to change...bounty

I thought the pics were really cool at first, and was showing Master thinking I might get one.  Then I watched the video and changed my mind... icky.

well keep in mind, that is a BAD piercer. it should not take that long at all

and when i said infection rate, i meant rejection rate

a better image of what is happening during a pierce

Aww, they're so itty-bitty!
i donno... first, you're creating a one-way pocket in the flesh, which never seems like a good idea to me (although my 1-1/2" surface bar probably isn't much better in practice), then, you've got a tiny piece of jewelry anchored by a tiny insert, which seems like it could fall out with relatively little impact. i'm not really feeling it from a technical standpoint. But, for facial mods on women, it could definitely be cute.

That is acctually Nothing compared to some piercings...........I have a 2 guage piercing in my navel....which i "hear" is very rare...........have jewelry that gets caught on my belt often.........Im SURE if my 2 Guage got pulled/ripped out it would hurt a LOT more than this other piercing.............BUT i DO have a lot of experience w/piercings.........(and tatts) I Currently have 11 permanent piercings.........once i had more, and some i acctually had to redue....................but............i love them all...........for diff reasons..........and NO they are not for EVERYONE, but they are for some................just like BDSM....................and Other "fetishes"...........................any questions?

;)

I LOVE mody mods!!!!!!!!!   XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

Looks cute! I don't personally like the idea that a peircer has to be the one to take it out though.. I like to retain control over my body jewelry without having to make an appointment. I can think of some really nice things that could be done with it though!

Does it heal over without noticable scarring if you take it out?

Considering the high rate for rejection and how unlucky I am....it's not worth the risk IMO.  Plus, I cannot think of one piercer in my area I would trust with that type of mod.

It is cute though.
