He was a prominent co-author of Climate Change 2001 (ISBN: 0521015073), which attributed a significant portion of the global warming to human activity.  Why they would call global warming a "swindle" is beyond me--when it's clear that they themselves don't even believe that.
But at least it gives the opportunity for science based argument of other possibilities and, more importantly, some of the aspects that are already factored in to many existing models, to be put into the public domain in laymans terms, whch can then be refined or refuted by scientific argument rather than political dogma. Wieght of scientific opinion still remains on the carbon levels side..........at the moment.

More media hype?  Media misinformation works both ways, you know.
Its the way the story is told not what the story is that maters.

Here's a review, by the way, of Climate Change 2007, the most recent IPCC publication:

A nice snippet:

Alternative explanations for some of the warming (for example, sunspot activity and the "urban heat island effect," the raising of temperatures in cities caused by high building densities and the use of heat-retaining materials such as concrete and asphalt) are now known to be relatively negligible.

Invoking the poor in this argument is poor taste. This argument has nothing to do with the poor and everything to do with special interest groups.

Amen.
