Cards as in credit cards or just the ones they give you to let you think its all about you, giving you little discounts when really they are using them to track your purchasing habits?

how many questions are you going to post to either boost your count or continue to advertise your business?

I have a whole key chain full, one for every gorcery store, golf shop, drug store, video store, etc.  I like the discounts i get and don't care if they know what i buy.

I do have to say that I wish I could justify that approach... but when you have 4 kids and can spend $.75 less on a gallon of milk most of the time, which I purchase probably something like 250 per year of... it kinda justifies having 1 of them.  I think my wife has more of them than I do, but I only really have the one.

I hate them though.  If you want me to buy your stuff, just give me a sale price... don't make me take some 'savings card' that realistically only takes up time in my wallet/on the keychain/whatever.  For all intents and purposes, anyone with a good computer system, a database and moderate data mining skills could get the same data just from the computerized sales data.  The only data that the cards could provide is the purchasing habits of people in particular localized areas.  Of course, the fact that people don't generally drive long distances, even for a 'good deal', if the person isn't local to the store, then all they'll see is purchasing habits of someone when they're not making their 'normal' purchases... thus defeating the purpose of the cards.

From the perspective of a shopper, they're annoying... from the perspective of a statistician and data miner (ok, I don't do either regularly), their use is questionable, at best.

That being said, the minute that I either earn enough money to where I don't care about that $.75/gallon of milk, or my kids don't drink that much... I'll be tossing that annoying little piece of shit (and all of them that my wife has) in the trash.

We have a chain, Hannaford, which counter markets Price Choppers "Advantage" card, with a "NO CARD GAMES" promotion.

They just pricematch they guys across the street, and put a "NO CARD GAMES" sticker on the shelf.

i'm pretty sure he's referring to discount cards, not credit cards, and discount cards don't show up on your credit report.
